Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister, said that Australia is shocked by the passing of Shane Warne. He also stated that the Victorian government had offered the legendary cricketer a state funeral.  

The Australian cricket legend, now a commentator, businessman and commentary expert, was discovered unconscious at a resort in Koh Samui today.

Thai police stated that Warne had been staying at the villa with four of his friends. When one tried to get Shane to eat, he refused.

Morrison, a 3AW Melbourne reporter said that Shane’s passing was harrowing. 

‘The whole country would have woken up in shock today, it’s just terrible.

“He was one of the cricketers who made a difference in cricket all over the world, not just here.

“And at such an early age, younger than I.” It is an awful shock for all who loved and knew him.

A state funeral will take place in Melbourne, with a date to be confirmed  in consultation with the Warne family, Cricket Australia and the Victorian Government ‘to ensure it honours Shane’s passing and memory’.

Martin Pakula, Victorian’s sports minister has announced that the Great Southern Stand at MCG will now be called the S.K. Warne Stand.

“Shane was one our best cricketers, and one of very few who could match the incredible achievements of Don Bradman,” said Morrison. Morrison stated that his achievements are the result of his talent and his dedication to the sport he loved.

“But Shane was so much more to Australians. Shane was one of our nation’s greatest characters. All loved him for his humour and passion. His irreverence, humor, and openness made him a favorite. His popularity was a testament to his love by Australians. We all did.

“There was something magical that He brought to our summers. He had bleached hair and moved almost effortlessly to deliver a package. His engagement was a joy. His personality was unique.

Morrsion stated that Warne was a role model for many kids around the world who have taken up cricket. 

“He made everything look easy.” “At some point, all of us tried to deliver flippers in almost every backyard,” he said.

“…as we heard from Shane as a commentator there was a player that understood cricket’s strategies and intricacies as well as Shane. This brilliance will be forever linked to the talents of Bradman, Benaud and others.

“There was also an openness to help so many people far away from the camera. With a smile and a g’day he’d bridge every gap.

He was his own man. He followed his own course. He got up again, even when the headlines could have brought him down. He always did.

‘Shane was the “King of Spin” because there was none like him. The “ball of the century” will be talked about forever,’ Morrison said.

‘Our love and condolences go to Shane’s family and particularly his children Brooke, Jackson, and Summer.

‘We have lost one of Australia’s greatest cricketers and today we are bewildered by this sad and sudden loss. 

Pat Cummins was emotional and joined other celebrities, athletes, ex-teammates, politicians, as well as former players to honor the cricket legend.

Cummins stated in a Twitter video that ‘The game wasn’t the same after Warnie came out, and it will never be the exact same after his death.’ “Rest in Peace, King.” 

As he thought back to ‘Warnie,’ the Australian test captain looked at the camera with tears in his eyes.

To honour Warne, the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews offered a funeral in state to his family.

Victoria has lost an icon. Australia lost a legend. “And the whole cricketing world mourns the loss of King,” Mr Andrews stated in a statement.

Brigitte Warne, Warne’s mother, spoke briefly with the Herald Sun from her Black Rock home.

‘We’re just in shock… we’re ok,’ she said.

“I believe he lived his entire life in the same manner. It was never dull. My good friend, Rest in Peace. There will not be another like you.

Mark Waugh called Warne the “ultimate entertainer” both on the field and off it.

Waugh wrote on Twitter, “It’s simply unfathomable that we lose another great cricket family member,” 

Kevin Rudd, former prime minister of Canada, took to Twitter to express his grief at the unexpected and sudden death.

“I can’t believe it. It is larger than life. A living legend. We are no longer with him. He wrote, “Far too young.”

His passing made both cricket and the nation so much more miserable. You are in my thoughts and prayers Warnie. To his loved ones, my sincere condolences. This country is deeply saddened by his death.  

Mitchell Johnson was a former cricketer who described Warne to him as “the best spin bowler that I have ever seen.”

She said, “I was horrified to wake up at 3 AM with this horrible news.” “I am in total shock. It is too bad. Devastating.

Andrew Neophitou, Warne’s manager, performed CPR for the cricket star for about 20 minutes in an effort to save his life. 

The Thai International Hospital took him to be declared dead.  

Thai Police Senior Sergeant Major Suporn Hemruangsree reported that they received a report from the Thai International Hospital about a person who died there. They went to the hospital and learned that the dead man was with four of his friends. He then died in the same room.

Shane Warne, who was visiting friends at the Samujana Villas in Koh Samui (Thailand) when he had a huge heart attack, died from his injuries.

“In the villa, people were sleeping separately in different rooms. From afternoon till evening, they slept until approximately 5 pm.

“At 5pm, someone called out the dead to have dinner. The deceased didn’t respond so three friends called to do CPR for twenty minutes. They waited to see if an ambulance would arrive.

“The doctor declared the death at 6:53pm. Officers went into the room to check for evidence of any intrusion or search through belongings. Koh Samui Hospital performed an autopsy on the body.

Separately, Warne’s manager confirmed that he had died and said that he could not be revived.

Friends and family began arriving at Warne’s Melbourne residence early Saturday morning.
