England’s chief Medical Officer said that he is’sad’ at the number of unvaccinated patients being treated in intensive care.
At a Downing Street press conference Professor Chris Whitty stated that ‘the vast majority’ of people in intensive care who have not been jabbed are ‘not anti vaxxers in an ordinary sense with some really strange ideas. But, they were being exploited by misinformed online.
Sir Chris stated that there was a lot of misinformation on the internet about side effects. This was leading to fears over whether Covid-19 was necessary enough for vaccination.
Whitty claimed, too that vaccines are not effective in fighting the disease.
He stated that he was frustrated because people are trying to keep other citizens away from something potentially life-saving.
“In the end it’s the job of healthcare professionals to not get frustrated, but to simply say, Look, let’s go over all your questions properly, systematically, and decide which are true and which are unfair.

Sir Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer has stated that he is “saddened” at the number of patients who are not vaccinated in ICU. Date of publication: Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Professor Sir Chris Whitty, (L) stated that the “great majority” patients in intensive care were not jabbed and were “not Anti-Vaxxers in any ordinary sense.” But they had been misinformed by people looking to make them believe otherwise (Boris Johnson (C), and Sir Patrick Vallance(R) are pictured at today’s Downing St. briefing).

Sir Chris stated that the booster offered 88% protection from being admitted to hospital.
Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, stated that it was “absolutely insane” for people to end up in Covid intensive care because they hadn’t been vaccinated.
‘How absolutely crazy it is, absolutely crazy, that there are two million slots this week for people to get vaccinated and yet the majority of people in ICU for Covid are not vaccinated – 61%,’ he told the press conference.
“It’s sad, but we have a great opportunity to fix it.”
Johnson stated that almost 9 million individuals are eligible for the program, but have not received their booster.

Boris Johnson, a Downing Street Press Conference speaker, stated that he will be suggesting to Cabinet that Plan B restrictions remain unchanged
‘It’s absolutely heartbreaking that as many as 90% of those in intensive care with Covid have not had their booster, and over 60% of those in intensive care who have Covid have not had any vaccination at all.
“People are dying because they don’t have their boosters or jabs.
Chief scientific advisor Sir Patrick Vallance stated that there are ‘extraordinarily large levels of infection currently’ in the UK and said there is no evidence to suggest that Covid has spread beyond London.
He said that while it might be true that it has slowed down in younger generations, or is beginning to fall, older people are still seeing an increase in their numbers.
“It would be very incorrect to suggest there is a peak that means it’s over in London.”
On the same day that 218,724 more Covid-19 cases had been confirmed in labs, the press conference took place.
This was the first day that the daily record number exceeded 200,000. However, the figure will be inflated due to delayed reporting over holidays.

Although the Prime Minister stated that there was a chance for the country to ‘ride this Omicron wave without needing to introduce further Covid restrictions’, he did not respond to widespread requests to reduce the time of isolation for Covid patients to seven to five day.
Today’s Downing St. briefing saw Mr Johnson state that now is the time for “utmost precaution” and did not mention any plans to decrease the Covid isolation times, even though he admitted it. Omicron’s severity is lower and the cases don’t translate into as much intensive care need as in previous waves.
Current British isolation is at seven days. However, Covid positive individuals can only test negative for two lateral flow tests results that are at least 24 hours apart on Days 6 and 7.
The remarks of the PM were made amid widespread calls by business leaders as well as health professionals to shorten the isolation period in order to avoid a lockdown by default. Industries across the country face closing due to the absence of staff.

Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has stated that there’s a chance for the country to ‘ride this Omicron wave without needing to bring in additional Covid restrictions’ but he did not respond to widespread requests to reduce the time spent in isolation by Covid patients to seven to five days
Experts claimed that cutting the isolation period to five days would save the UK economy £300million this month while the Centre for Economics and Business Research estimated that the current rules will cost the country £1 billion, equal to 0.5 per cent of monthly GDP.
Sky News spoke with Professor Paul Hunter, a professor of medicine. He said that it is possible to shorten the time for isolation of Covid positive people to just five days. This would reduce transmission risk as most cases occur between 2 and 3 days following an illness.
He stated, “I believe the evidence shows that most infections can be transmitted within the first two to four days following the onset of illness.”
“At the moment most of the pressure comes from people not being able to work. Some of them won’t need to be.
