“Suicide bomber’s initial target was Poppy Day Parade”: The terrorist wanted to visit the cathedral, but instead asked for a hospital.

  • David Perry is the one who saved lives by keeping a suspect in his car at Liverpool Women’s Hospital
  • Perry’s friends believe that the target might have been Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, Service of Remembrance.
  • Although police have denied any link to the Poppy Day celebration, they did say that it was an investigation.

An alleged terrorist who set off a suicide bomb in front of a hospital wanted the victim to be able to walk to the Remembrance Day service at the cathedral. However, the streets were closed.

Cabbie David Perry is credited for saving many lives by keeping the suspect in his car during the explosion of the vehicle just minutes before the blast. This was right before the 11AM deadline outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Detectives say the male passenger who died in the blast had asked to go to the hospital, around ten minutes’ drive from his home in Rutland Avenue, which police have sealed off.

Perry friends think the target might have been Liverpool’s Service of Remembrance, Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. This is where 1200 military personnel, veterans, and the families of those who were killed had congregated less than a mile from Perry’s hospital. Before the 11am Poppy Days event, roads around the cathedral were closed.

These were the circumstances that lead to yesterday’s explosion at Liverpool Women’s Hospital and subsequent raids and arrests

A friend said that he originally wanted to visit the cathedral, but was denied access.

MailOnline was informed by him that they couldn’t reach the city centre because of roadblocks. But the man decided to change his mind. He wanted to visit the city center.

“But, when they were passing the Women’s Hospital, he told them to pull in. It happened just before 11. [The driver]He noticed that the light was attached to his shirt and was playing around with it. However, it wasn’t looking right.

Today, Russ Jackson, Counter Terrorism North West Assistant Chief Constable revealed that the idea that the man targeted the cathedral near his home was part of a line of inquiry.

He stated that ‘The reason he took the bomb to the Women’s Hospital was unknown as well as the cause of its sudden explosion. It is known that Remembrance events were located near the hospital, and that the incident that ignited it occurred just before 11am.

“We can’t at this point draw any connection, but it’s a line we’re pursuing.”

The Prime Minister stated that the taxi driver who was involved in the Liverpool bombing incident acted with an ‘incredible presence and mind and courage’. Joanne Anderson, the Mayor of the City, said: “The taxi driver has, through his heroic efforts, managed to divert [what could have been] an absolutely terrible disaster at the hospital”. He also said that he had locked the doors to prevent the bomber from entering the back.

Three men, aged 21 and 26, were taken into custody yesterday by S41 under the Terrorism Act. They were located at Sutcliffe Street in Liverpool, after the attack. Social media footage, which is not verified, shows that one group of officers climbed a ladder over the back wall to stop any escapes. A second man, aged 20, was also arrested in Kensington for the terror offense.

The shocking moment that Mr Perry’s taxi turned into a fiery ball outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital has been captured on CCTV. This happened just before yesterday’s 11am silence.

It is visible pulling in the parking garage of the hospital at high speed. However, it bursts just outside the reception.

After the explosion, all the windows were shattered. Smoke poured out from the vehicle before Mr Perry, a dazed man, opened the driver’s doors and walked out onto the roadway. This took around six seconds.

The taxi driver who was injured appears to tell others not to get in his car. There has been some praise for the man wearing high-viz yellow, who ran towards the taxi and tried to save him.

The bomber remains inside the vehicle, and the car is completely engulfed in flames around 30 seconds following the explosion. The passenger in the back can be seen by one witness. The witness decides that the passenger can’t possibly be saved and declares him dead.

Authorities are trying to find the true target of the bomber. MailOnline has been informed by Dr Joseph Downing of LSE’s fellow in nationalism, who studied security and terrorist, that the target was the hospital.
