Estimated sales prices were blown out the door by the collection of puppets for children.

Sooty’s Little Cousin Scampi, a late edition to the format in the early 1990s, attracted a price of £2,000.

Neben the original puppets were props and costumes. These included the magic box and white rabbit from Sooty’s magic conjuring routine, as well his famous water pistol and magic wands.

The full collection sold for a £11,250 including premium – three times expectations on November 18.

Alistair McCrea from Ewbanks said, “Fortunately Sooty was able to behave very well throughout and managed keep Little Cousin Scampi at bay.”

“We were pleased with the reactions of bidders.

“There is no doubt this collection has caused quite the stir.”
