The WEIRDEST AND WONDERFUL INVENTIONS OF CES 2022

Among thousands of items at this year’s 2022 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (CES), are a robot cat that nips at you, a smart lamp that monitors how healthy you are and a suit that lets your mind travel to the other side of the universe.

The event is being held in person in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as online for people who can’t travel — with tens of thousands of ideas, concepts and products on show.

CES also features new consumer electronics, as well as vehicles, such a prototype electric SUV from Sony and a LiDAR-based breaking system.

The annual event runs from from today until Saturday, and MailOnline has created this roundup some of the weird and wonderful inventions unveiled so far.

CES, one of the most important trade fairs worldwide, is now open to thousands of visitors despite Omicron cases causing Amazon and Google both to withdraw from the event.

Transportation is a major section of the 2022 show. With an increased focus on autonomous and electric vehicles, it has become a staple of CES.

These are the five most unusual, bizarre and amazing inventions that were unveiled at the huge show’s first day.

Robot cat that bites you in the fingers

Yukai Engineering created Amagami Ham Ham Ham, a robotic cat that is probably the strangest product from CES 2022.

The cuddly cat-shaped toy can nibble your fingers. This is according to the company, who claims it is inspired by the belief that all of us have an inexplicable desire to nibble our fingers.

It is intended to reduce stress. The algorithm generates 20 patterns for nibbling.

It means that each time it puts its finger into its mouth, it will give you a different bite.

The patterns include tasting, massaging and suction and it comes in two designs based on the Nemu Nemmu series — a calico cat and a shiba inu dog.

TechCrunch’s Yukai Engineering CMO Tsubasa Tominaga stated that while most people enjoy the feeling of being nibbled, they must teach children and pets how to stop this behavior. Children or animals can bite with all their force eventually.

The robot ‘Amagami ham Ham’ is designed to free humans from the dilemma of whether they should pursue forbidden pleasures.

Although it is not clear when the device will be made available or how much, they are planning on launching a crowdfunding campaign.

Lightbulb for health tracking

Sengled, a US startup, has revealed a smart lightbulb. The bulb uses Bluetooth and radar sensors to collect health information about people living in the room.

The bulb tracks the user’s heart beat, temperature, and sleeping patterns without any additional devices.

Frequency Modulated Constant Wave (FMCW radar) is used to map a room or the entire house, if bulbs are present in any of the rooms, and also detect people inside the home.

The smart bulb monitors the health and vital sign of everyone in the room using its combined radar system with artificial intelligence.

It is also able to track physical movement, and so could be used in the home of an elderly person to watch for falls — and send the data to an app that can call a selected contact and alert them.

It is currently in development and no pricing details have been released. However, it will likely launch before the end of 2012.
