Emma Raducanu, a teenage tennis star, thanked her fans for their support yesterday as she received the Sport’s Personality Award.  

Kent-based tennis player, Venus Williams, rose quickly to stardom following her US Open win in September. Since then, she has been invited by a number of luxury brands to represent the brand.  

She won the BBC Award and received another award over the weekend.

Last night, as part of her celebrations, she posted a photo on Instagram. in her hotel room in Abu Dhabi, where she is currently isolating after testing positive for Covid-19 this, writing: ‘I’m honoured just to be amongst the other great nominees, let alone win.

Emma Raducanu, Princess Anne’s fairytale year winner, was replaced by the youngest female recipient of the award over the show’s 67-year history.

Because she is isolating, it meant her victory speech was delivered over Zoom at almost 1am in the United Arab Emirates

Zoom is almost one-hour late for her victory speech because of the isolation she has.

Raducanu stated, “To win, that’s pretty incredible for me. “I’m very happy with this. Growing up I was a huge fan of Sports Personality of the Year, and I’m honored to be able to share in the glory of past winners.

“I’m also happy that British tennis was able to win this award again. We are grateful to everyone who supported us this year. It’s been amazing.

Raducanu, who is 19 years old, has been the youngest SPOTY award winner since Michael Owen in 1998. Raducanu won the public vote, beating Olympic hero Tom Daley (2nd) and Adam Peaty (3rd).

The Bromley teenager was the overwhelming favourite for the award – as short as 1-50 on with one bookies – after her jaw-dropping victory at the US Open in September.

The British teenager produced one of the sporting stories of the year when she navigated the qualifying rounds in New York to storm all the way to the final, where she defeated Canada’s Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 to win her first Grand Slam title, as well as £1.8million in prize money.

She was the first British woman to be awarded a Grand Slam Singles title in over 44 years.

Emma further cemented her place as a household name as she was revealed as she face of Sports Direct's 2021 Christmas campaign earlier this month

Emma was also made a household name when she was announced as the Face of Sports Direct’s 2021 Holiday Campaign (left) as well as as Global Brand Ambassador for Evian. 

Meanwhile, the teenager was then revealed as the face of jewellery brand Tiffany and Co in a deal estimated to be worth more than £2million.

In October she was announced as the ambassador of Dior’s high-end fashion brand.

The role will see the teen represent Dior’s Womenswear Collections as well as its skincare and makeup ranges.

Emma is currently unknown how much she will receive for being an ambassador for Dior.

She has since scooped deals with Evian and appeared as the face of Sports Direct’s 2021 Christmas campaign.

Tennis star, who has been described as the’sponsors dream’ of tennis, is now on track to becoming one of the top female athletes. 

Also, it was reported that Harbour 6 Limited Limited helped her manage her finances and set the stage for future earnings.

Raducanu, who was going to miss the Salford show last night, opted to participate in an Abu Dhabi exhibition tournament as she prepares for the Australian Open next month.

She was prevented from presenting the trophy after she caught Covid-19 on Monday.
