Covid has made the Crown its latest victim.

According to an insider close to Netflix, filming for the series was suspended on Wednesday due to positive tests by at least eight members of crew.

Netflix has confirmed that the Crown had finished filming on Thursday evening, one day before planned. This was due to positive case.

Before the cameras shut down for the New Year’s Eve, Tony Blair was given the opportunity to bow. He was played by Nick Clegg’s actor and Cherie by a Jackie Onassis actress.

Images obtained by Mail depict Bertie Carvel as Lydia Leonard, recreating the day polling in 1997’s election that brought Labour to power.

Tony and Cherie set off together to vote in Kent, rather than County Durham.

Bertiel (44), was the Liberal Democrat leader at that time Mr Clegg on Channel 4’s drama Coalition.

Lydia, aged 40, was Jackie O’s widow and assassinated US President John F Kennedy. Lydia married a Greek shipping tycoon in Onassis 2010, West End.

Next November will see the fifth season of The Crown.

This book focuses on Charles’ and Diana’s split marriage and her lead-up to Diana’s death.

Bertie Carvel, 44, (pictured) one of this country's most acclaimed actors, is to portray Tony Blair in The Crown.

Stepping in the PM’s seat is Bertie, whose previous roles have ranged from Nick Clegg to Rupert Murdoch to the philandering former husband of TV’s Doctor Foster.

This is an enormous role for actor who has a chameleon-esque ability that allows him to blend into his characters.

Peter Morgan has written a draft script for the Crown’s Creative Team. It concerns Diana’s tragic death in Paris, August 1997. The scene was three months after Blair’s election to No 10.

Peter  has been very clear that the episode will not show the actual crash. Interestingly though, the episode will look at a different side than the one in The Queen (2006) which featured Helen Mirren playing the monarch and Michael Sheen portraying Blair.

Blair hailed Diana “The People’s Prince” and the Queen deemed Diana’s death a private matter. She was therefore not ready for the outpouring emotion of the nation.

The Crown would like to investigate more about the constitutional crisis that occurred behind closed doors. It is also interested in how Queen Elizabeth was allegedly bullied into making public a declaration regarding Diana by Prime Minister.

A production executive confided that they didn’t wish to follow the same course as the film.

“There are still aspects to the conflict between Blair and the Queen that have not been discussed. It’s being so sensitively handled because of Diana’s sons — and the Queen . . . Charles. It is controversial to even make it. We have to prove it.
