53: This is how it looks. The owner of a beauty brand says that radiofrequency treatments and her embrace of her natural curls keep her looking young.

  • Keeps natural curls in good condition using L’Oreal and Schwarzkopf products
  • Tightened skin using a radiofrequency treatment with facialist Vicky Kennedy

My salon used to blow dry my hair a few times per week. But it was expensive — £60 a week — and over time I worried it was damaging my hair. Ten years ago I chose to embrace my curls. Now, I keep them in condition with L’Oreal Elvive Dream Lengths Long Hair Shampoo and Conditioner (£4.99, boots.com). Then I add in Schwarzkopf Volume Lift Mousse (£3) for extra definition.

At the start of the first lockdown, I invested in a Morphy Richards Compact Soup Maker (£52.99, morphyrichards.co.uk). Since then, I’ve been having vegetable soup for lunch. Plus, I make a weekly batch of ginger, turmeric, and lemon juice — which I drink a shot of every morning, instead of a coffee. It’s packed with antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory benefits. I’ve dropped a dress size to a 10.

Karen Yates (pictured), a Bolton resident revealed her amazing ageless look by embracing her natural curls as well as receiving a radiofrequency treatment.

My husband and I were married nine years ago. I moved from London to be with him in the North. This was an enormous lifestyle shift. The fresh air is what I enjoy now. It’s therapeutic and it keeps me fit helping with the hay-making and gardening, as well as running the cattery we have. I always wore heels; now I’m a welly boot girl.

Earlier this year I also completed an online course in mindfulness (£29.99, centreofexcellence.com). The course had 12 modules that helped me greatly with my stress level. I hadn’t realised how cluttered my mind was before this.

I’ve never had Botox as I prefer a natural look. But after the stress of the last year, I tried a radiofrequency treatment with facialist Vicky Kennedy (£160 per session, evolveskinclinic.com). It’s a non-surgical method of tightening the skin, using energy waves to heat the deeper layers and stimulate collagen. This made a huge difference.
