Unfortunate footage has emerged showing a FreeNow driver being attacked and robbed by a hooded gang in London during an alleged London gunpoint robbery.

Dashcam footage shows the four-strong party getting into the private-hire vehicle and then attacking the driver after a dispute over the number of passengers.

One member of the group punches the driver in the face, while another grabs at him to pull him out of his car.

Moments later, a member of gang is seen getting into the front seat of a vehicle. The video ends.

Three teens were arrested by police for robbery in connection with the incident which occurred in the Ladbroke Grove section of west London on Sunday October 17.

What is FreeNow? 

FreeNow is a German ride-hailing app that aims to compete with Uber.

It was created in 2019 by Daimler Mobility and BMW.

However, the company has a part of its roots in Britain. In 2011, a company called Hailo was established. Hailo, most well-known for its bright yellow taxis.

Daimler’s MyTaxi launched the company in 2016. MyTaxi was later rebranded as FreeNow in 2019.

Like Uber and Bolt users can order a taxi or a scooter via a mobile app. It currently operates in 100 European cities including London, Madrid, Dublin, Paris and Paris.

It also operates within other UK cities, including Reading, Manchester and Oxford.

Video shows the three members of the group getting in the back of the vehicle, after arriving at Southern Row off Kensal Road around 11.35pm.

The group is heard asking the driver to let a fourth member of their group into the private-hire vehicle. 

One hooded male can be heard saying, “I want four of you in the car.” I will get mad if I can’t get four people in the car. All my friends are coming, bro.  

The same member grabs the driver by the neck and punches him.

Before the driver is pulled out, another member of the group opens the driver’s doors.

The driver reported the incident the police. He claimed that he was threatened with being shot by the group. According to police, he was not hurt during the incident.

Scotland Yard launched an investigation into the incident and has now charged three people.

Police say that three teenagers aged 17 and 15 have been charged with attempted robbery as well as robbery.

The teenagers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been kept in custody ahead of an appearance at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today.  

MailOnline was told by a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police that three people had been charged in relation to an alleged gunpoint robbery

“The incident took place at 11:35 on Sunday 17 October at Southern Row London, W10.

“A taxi driver reported to police that four people threatened him with guns and had stolen his car. The victim was not hurt in the incident.

“Following an inquiry by detectives of the Central West Command Unit three teens, one aged 15 and two aged 17, were charged with attempted and actual robbery on Sunday 24, October.

‘All three have been kept in custody to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 October. The investigation continues.
