Pennsylvania mother shocked when her 3-year-old daughter called to inform her that her fish had been smuggled into school.
Lauren Scanlan’s daughter Peyton adores her fish Mermaid. So last week she brought the tank with her to preschool.
Mom and teacher did not notice that the swimmer stowaway was there until snack, when Peyton discovered something and Lauren called Lauren.

Lauren Scanlan was surprised when her 3-year-old daughter Peyton brought her pet fish with her to school.
Lauren was able to find humor in this situation and she sent it text her cousin Connor Hughes, who shared a screenshot of their conversation to Twitter.
The viral video quickly gained more than 300,000. Impressions since its posting earlier in the week.
Lauren sent the first message. It stated that Peyton received a call from school today stating that Peyton had smuggled her fish home from her parents and brought it with her to school in her sippy cup.
Lauren answered Connor’s question about whether the fish survived. [it’s] alive. She took the fish out of her tank, and placed it in her sippy cups. Then she went to school.
Even before she realized there were live animals in the water, the little girl continued to drink from it.

True love: Lauren later asked Peyton about why she brought the fish to school. She explained that she just ‘loves her pet so much’.
Lauren said in text that she had drank the beverage at snack and noticed something. “She didn’t realize it was there.”
Connor and Brieanne recently married, and now they are looking to have children. But, this message might change their mind.
Connor captioned his screenshots with the following: “Just recently we got married. @BrieHughes3 I and I have begun the discussion about having children,” “I received this message from my cousin today, and I’m still not ready.
Lauren opened up to Today Parents about Lauren’s moment, saying that she was overwhelmed by all of it.
“The director [of Peyton’s school]Called to find out if Peyton had taken her fish to school in her sippycup,’ she said with a smile.

Lauren wrote to her cousin Connor Hughes. It was Connor’s turn to text Lauren.

I said “No, but Peyton had given me the fish in a sippy-cup.” My heart was broken. “I didn’t know how to respond.”
Sher shared that Peyton behaved suspiciously when she was giving the fish to her mother earlier in that morning. Sher told her not to tell her mom, and Lauren did not realize she had actually put it in her glass.
After seeing that her daughter had dropped some fish food, she thought it was an explanation for why she seemed to be acting wrong.
“I said it was fine, I would wash up and she agreed, but then it didn’t bother me,” she added. “Peyton filled her backpack with water and then we headed to school.

Here’s the bad part. You want to know the worst part?
The three-year-old asked why the fish was brought to school and she replied that she just adored Mermaid.
She was very caring and had a habit of putting food in her sippy cup before it closed. Lauren said that she couldn’t be mad at Lauren because she was such a great pet owner.
She talked to her daughter about the appropriate and inappropriate items she brought to school.
She said, “I will check to ensure all our pets are properly cared for before I send my children to school.”
Connor, a New Jersey resident, said that he and his wife had been ‘crying laughing over the news from his cousin – although he joked about how it helped their own baby fever.
He also said that if the couple has children they’ll make sure their fish tanks are’sealed shut’
