WHAT IS A STRABISMUS?
A person suffering from strabismus will have one eye looking directly at the object, while the other is aligned.
You can have it face outward (esotropia), ‘crossed eyes’ or cross-eyed’), inward (exotropia), or upward (hypertropia).
Strabismus may be either constant or intermittent.
One in twenty children has a squint or strabismus. Exotropia, however, is much less common.
Squints typically develop in the first three decades of life. However, they may appear at any time.
It’s often detected in the early years of childhood or within weeks after a baby is born.
This condition has affected many famous painters, like Rembrandt and Edgar Degas.
It is also believed that Lady Louise Windsor has the same condition.
She began to get snarky comments from men when she entered secondary school.
However Elley explained how she learned to deal with it, saying: ‘Comments still bothered me but I got better at hiding it by laughing with them and taking the joke on further, that way they could be straightforward to my face without hurting me, because I was laughing with them, and that continued through secondary school too.’
TikTok was her first video. She started it because she enjoyed dancing and singing.
After posting a tutorial on makeup, she said that she did not expect to gain a large following.
It quickly wracked up thousands of views, and Elley gained 470,000 followers on the platform.
