After mistaking the crocodile for a model, a tourist was attacked in the Philippines by a crocodile. He climbed into the pool to take selfies.
Nehemias Chupada (68) spotted the beast as he visited an amusement center to celebrate his Birthday with his family, Misamis Oriental, province, on November 10.
The killer creature was believed to be a life-like model, so he posed with the phone in his hand while holding it at his waist.
The lighthearted moment with his family was interrupted when the 12-foot-long croc reached out to grab his arm and pulled him into the Amaya View water park in Cagayan De Oro City.
Nehemias Chupada, age 68, was attacked by the Crocodile in an amusement-park visit to mark his birthday.
He was able to flee the animal, and then he was allowed out of his enclosure. The staff from the amusement parks treated him for injuries.
Dramatically, Nehemias screams for help as the huge reptile digs its way into his left arm.
Before he could be treated, he managed to escape the beast and ran away with all his limbs intact.
Nehemias (who survived the crocodile attack) and his family took responsibility for the failure to put up warning signs telling them not to approach the dangerous reptile.
Mercy Joy Chipada’s daughter said that Nehemias had not been warned to go into the enclosure. It is because if there had been, then we wouldn’t have ventured there.
To stop the bleeding from spreading, staff at the resort wrapped Nehemias in handkerchiefs and placed them around his arms and hands. He was then taken to the Northern Mindanao Medical Centre.
Exams revealed that he suffered from fractured bones as well as eight injuries which required stitching to his left arm, thigh and leg.
After being bitten, Nehemias managed to get loose and leave the animal’s enclosure to seek treatment
To stop the bleeding from continuing, staff at the resort wrapped Nehemias in handkerchiefs. He was then taken to Northern Mindanao Medical Centre.
The bite had caused a 3-inch crocodile tooth to become lodged in his skin. His broken bones required multiple surgeries.
Rogelio Pamasa Antiga was the onlooker and filmed the video. He said, “I was simply looking at all the beauty in the park when it happened.” The crocodile was grabbing the elderly man and I could hear people shouting for help. He thought the crocodile would eat his arm.
“I tried to help him, but was terrified and did not know what to do with a Crocodile attack.”
Although the amusement park accepted the cost of Nehemias’ treatment, they denied negligence in warning visitors about dangerous animals.
Candy Unabia is the Chief Operating Officer at Amaya View. She stated that they deny any claim of negligence.
“They stated that the crocodile they saw was artificial. But, this area is restricted. Our tour guides are constantly reminding us to look out for signs and other reminders.
