Twitter does not require consent for all people in photos or videos before they are posted. However, it will remove it if the person requested it to be taken down.

In addition to the current private information policy, the added rule prohibits sharing people’s personal information like phone numbers, addresses and IDs.

Twitter posted that “There are growing concerns regarding the misuse media and information not available elsewhere on the internet as a means to harass and intimidate individuals” in the tweet.

Twitter will notify it if media is shared without permission. It will either remove the image or video or take other action, such as reducing the visibility of tweets in search and replies.

Twitter stated that they will “always try to evaluate the context in which content is shared” and may permit images or videos to be retained on the service in these cases.

‘For instance, we would take into consideration whether the image is publicly available and/or is being covered by mainstream/traditional media (newspapers, TV channels, online news sites), or if a particular image and the accompanying tweet text adds value to the public discourse, is being shared in public interest, or is relevant to the community.’
