Two women and two children have died in a fire at a house in south-east London, the London Fire Brigade said.
Last night, six fire engines were dispatched and approximately 40 firefighters responded to the fire at Hamilton Road in Bexleyheath.
Two children and a woman were rescued by breathing apparatus crews using a ladder of 30 feet. However, they died on the spot.
A man entered the building just before the Brigade arrived. He was taken by London Ambulance Service to the hospital.
Andy Roe, London Fire Commissioner said that it was a tragic and disturbing incident. We send our condolences to the victims’ family members, friends, and community.
The Brigade was dispatched at 8.30pm, and the incident was finished by 9.45pm. There were fire crews from Sidcup, Plumstead and Erith stations.
Investigators are currently investigating the cause of this fire.
