Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to destroy Ukraine, but there’s no imminent threat of invasion, according to a top Ukrainian security official.

Oleksiy Danilov secretary to the National Security and Defence Council said talk about Moscow’s invasion could undermine Ukraine and allow Putin to play into his hands.

Putin is determined to take down our nation. Is he going to succeed? Danilov said, “No, he won’t.”

He stated that ‘our citizens will defend our country’ and added that the army as well as civilians would form a large national resistance movement in case of an attack by Russia.

“We are going protect our country.” ‘Finally.

Tensions are building ever since Washington raised the alarm about a large Russian military presence at Ukraine’s borders and charged Putin with plotting to invade.

This comes days after Russian troops conducted combat drills near the Ukrainian border and held live-firing exercises.

Ukrainian reservists attend a military exercise at a training ground near Kiev, Ukraine, 18 December 2021 (issued 19 December 2021), in preparation for a potential invasion

Ukrainian reservists participate in a military exercise near Kiev, Ukraine on 18/12/2021. This was issued 19/12/2021 to prepare for an invasion.

Danilov (59) downplayed any risk of major military escalation and stated that Ukrainian officials had not witnessed any “critical buildup”.

Kiev estimates that the Russian troop presence at Ukraine’s border has increased to 104,000 from 93,000 in October, according to Kiev.

Danilov stated that he doesn’t believe this to be a major surge.

Volodymyr Zilensky, President’s Security Adviser, stressed that it was not the intention of authorities to “scare” people by talking about war because this would destabilise internal affairs.

Russian leaders have long questioned Ukraine’s legality and maintained that Russians and Ukrainians were ‘one people’.

Putin claimed that Ukraine was created by Vladimir Lenin in 1920s, who founded the Soviet Union.

Danilov charged the Kremlin with trying to destabilise Ukraine by insiders using cyberattacks to deepen an energy crisis in one Europe’s most poorest countries.

He stated, “I insist that this is the main task of Putin,”

Danilov stated that, if everything fails, then the Kremlin can move troops to the other side of the border.

Ukrainian reservists conduct combat exercises in preparation for an invasion. According to a survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) in December 2021 and published on 17 December 2021, the 50,2 percent of Ukrainians said they would resist in case of a Russian military intervention into their city, town or village. Every third respondent to the poll, the 33,3 percent, said they were ready to engage in armed resistance.

Putin, speaking at his annual end-of-year press conference yesterday, accused NATO and the US of planning to deploy hypersonic missiles - which have not yet been successfully developed - to Ukraine

Yesterday, Putin spoke at an annual press conference to end the year. He accused NATO and USA of planning to send hypersonic missiles to Ukraine. These have yet to be successfully developed.

Was Vladimir Putin’s speech on each subject at the end of the year press conference informative?

Possible conflict with Ukraine

We don’t wish to accept this.

“We need to consider securing our security prospects for not only the next week, but also for the immediate future.”

“We have just asked the question, should there be any further NATO movements to the east? The ball is now in the US’s court. They should respond with something. This is why I want to emphasize that we’ve seen positive reactions so far. Our American partners have told us they are open to starting this conversation.

NATO expansion

“What’s unclear? Is it a matter of putting missiles near the United States’ border? It is not the United States who has arrived at us with its missiles. They are on our doorstep.

“The outcome is more important than how the negotiation goes,” they said to us in the 1990s. What’s the point? They didn’t cheat, they just brazenly fooled us! They have already begun to appear in Romania and Poland after five rounds of NATO expansion.

On Donbass:

“The people living in Donbass must decide the future of Donbass.” This cannot happen any other way. Our role is to act as mediators, creating conditions that will determine the future for the residents of this area.

Russia classifies some media outlets as agents foreigners:

We do not prohibit the activities of such organizations. Organizations engaged in Russia’s political activity should be able to declare clearly and concisely the sources of foreign funds for their activities.

Since 2014, the West has accused Russia of giving direct military support for pro-Russian separatists. They created two stateslets in eastern Ukraine after Moscow annexed Crimea.

Russia refutes the claims, and Putin suggests that the conflict which has claimed the lives of over 13,000 people is genocidal.

Danilov charged the Kremlin with trying to divide Ukraine further.

He stated that they wanted to rip apart the country to make it no longer exist within its borders.

Moscow denies that the plan is to attack the city and accuses Kiev of plotting to overthrow the Moscow-backed separatist statelets with force.

Danilov said that an offensive would not be acceptable for Ukrainian authorities, as it would result in a huge increase of civilian casualties.

He stated that he would love to see negotiations and would prefer for the Russians to pull out their troops and tanks, as well as go home.

Putin is against this.

In the case of an attack against Ukraine, US President Joe Biden threatened Putin with sanctions “like he’s never before”.

Washington stated it’s also ready to expand its military presence across eastern Europe.

However, Ukrainian officials have called on the West to increase military aid to Ukraine and to apply preemptive sanctions to Russia.

Danilov stated that providing us with defense weapons was the most important issue.

“Who are you going to place sanctions against when our country is destroyed?” He also said that he would add.

Putin asks the United States and Russia to guarantee Russia that NATO’s eastward expansion will be stopped, that Ukraine won’t join NATO, and that the United States will not allow it to expand further.

Washington states that the United States is open to discussing some security suggestions from Moscow in early January.

Danilov advised the West to avoid deciding Ukraine’s fate apart from Kiev.

He said that regardless of the outcome, “it won’t work” if Ukraine doesn’t accept it.

We are not Russia. Because of the decisions made by big men, it is difficult to get everyone down.

The Kiev International Institute of Sociology published a poll in December 2021 that found 50.2 percent of Ukrainians would not allow a Russian military occupation of their village, city or town.

A third of the respondents to the poll (33.3%) said that they are ready to fight armed resistance. 21.7 percent stated they are ready to join ‘civil resistance actions.

Over 1,000 Russian troops participated in shooting exercises in five Russian regions, and tanks performed mobile defence drills that involved 500 soldiers. Meanwhile, Sukhoi Su-27SM3 fighter aircrafts practised challenging warships.

It came hours after Putin, speaking at his annual end-of-year press conference, accused NATO and the US of planning to deploy hypersonic missiles –  which have not yet been successfully developed – to Ukraine.

Russian ruler blamed NATO’s militarization of ex-Soviet states like Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania for the crisis that is currently occurring and the threat of a nuclear war. Russia is able to defend itself at all costs.

Defence sources claimed that the Black Sea Sukhoi Su-27SM3 fighter planes were stationed at Krasnodar to challenge Western and Ukrainian warships, which they considered to be threatening Russia’s border.

A fleet statement stated that Su-27SM3 Duos were escorting Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bombers. They also practiced airborne duty and detection of mock transgressor vessels.

A separate announcement was made by the central military district, which announced an increase of 50 percent in drills to 2022. This would mean that almost one daily drill will be conducted.

The video shows five MiG-31BM fighter jets, which are ultra-modern and were used to intercept the enemy in this district. Also, in Kemerovo were 500 troops involved in mobile defence drills.

The Central District Commander, Colonel General Alexander Lapin stated that he would continue to increase the combat potential and keep it at an level that guarantees the military security and stability of Russia and its allies.
