With over 30 years’ experience in working with women, an experienced personal trainer has shared the four “pillars” she uses to help maintain a healthy and lean body.
Vix Erber (or Bondi Vixen, as she’s known locally in Bondi Beach) got her start in fitness in 1991. She was one of the first to obtain a personal trainer certificate in Australia.
Now she owns and runs The Vixletix Method Studio, a boutique strength, HIIT, Pilates and yoga-infused group and personal training environment, which is now enjoying welcoming back clients after an almost four month Covid lockdown in Sydney.
Vix, who has been in her forties, isn’t content to leave the gym with other trainers. Although she does have four, Vix would rather teach 16 classes each week and take all personal training appointments.
Vix Erber (pictured), also known as Bondi Vixen in Bondi Beach is where she got her start into the fitness business in 1991.
Vix said that she got a job in Bondi Junction at Healthland Gym after graduating from school. She has been working there ever since.
She would gather a group of friends together in 2000 to go to’mums & bubs’ classes. Then she took her training to the beaches with bootcamps. This is where Bondi Vixen was created.
‘I had 30 strong women in my groups. It didn’t matter if it was raining or shining, we would still train. Boutique fitness had just started five years ago, and she stated that this was the right direction to take.
Vix landed an office in North Bondi after testing the waters in the pop-up studio, which was “through the roof” in sign ups.
There are many fitness options in the area that target men and women aged 20-34, but Vix wanted to appeal more to those over 35.
Vix tried out the studio in the pop-up and it was very successful. Vix then landed the space in North Bondi. It is only a few minutes walk to the beach.
According to her, the “Vixletix Method” has four pillars which I consider crucial in order for more consistency.
Empower is the first pillar. It focuses on building lean muscle and strength through training. This will help increase bone density, prevent osteoporosis, and keep us from getting old.
“Young men come to work thinking they can gain weight. But that’s not the truth. She said that only women will get the results they desire in a male-only environment.
Vix is Vix’s version of progressive Pilates using sliders, booty bands and interval training.
For a focused workout, it targets your glutes as well as the core.

To ensure that clients are well-rounded in their approach to health, the studio has a team of nutritionists, massage therapists and dietitians.
Sweat, which can be multi-functional cardio conditioning and cardiovascular training, and Restore are the last two. They allow you to relax and meditate with yoga.
Each pillar has a class to help you choose from a wide variety of options each week.

“You don’t need to travel anywhere else.” Vix explained that you get the most results when you go to one location. It’s more safe and motivating.
Vix suggests four sessions per week for maximum results. Three is the absolute minimum. It’s important to consider making it part of your daily routine, not a task that must be done every day.
