Following the discovery of the corpse of a boy aged five in Coventry, a woman has been taken into custody on suspicion that she was involved in murder.

In Earlsdon, this afternoon the teenager was discovered suffering from fatal injuries.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to confirm that the boy had died at the spot.

An unidentified 49-year-old female was arrested under suspicion for murder. She has been placed in custody to answer questions.

Police discovered the child with serious injuries at an address in Poplar Road, Earlsdon, just after 5.55pm

Just after 5.55pm, police discovered the child suffering from serious injuries in an Earlsdon address.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services he was tragically confirmed dead at the scene. Forensic teams stayed in place to search for evidence

He was fatally shot at the spot despite the best efforts by emergency personnel. The scene was left for the investigation by Forensic Team.

The cordon remains in place as police and forensic teams continue their investigation into the incident

As police and forensic team continue to investigate the incident, the cordon will remain in place.

The terraced house was occupied by police officers and forensics personnel who searched the area for evidence.

Others conducted door to door enquiries, and reached out to nearby businesses in order for duplicates of the CCTV footage.

Police, paramedics and forensics teams were seen on Poplar Road and the surrounding area for hours after the discovery of the body

Hours after discovering the body, officers, paramedics, and forensics team members were visible on Poplar Road.

Police and forensics officers remained at the terraced house this evening and combed for evidence. Other officers conducted door-to-door enquiries and contacted nearby businesses for copies of CCTV footage

The terraced home was remained by police and forensics officers throughout the evening. They searched for any evidence. Officers also conducted door-to–door inquiries and called nearby businesses to obtain copies of the CCTV footage.

“Losing a loved one, particularly if they are young, can be very painful. We know that this can cause great shock and anxiety. 

“A suspect was arrested. It’s crucial that detectives have time to investigate all aspects of the death.

“We will continue to maintain a police presence in this area, and we’ll do our best for everyone during these difficult times.”

This comes days after a Coventry man aged 36 was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend.

Officers found the body of Marlene Doyle, 32, in Othello Court, Shakespeare Street, at 5:20pm last Thursday.

She was declared dead by her family, and they believed that nothing could have been done to save her.

Her partner Patryk Skupinski, 36, of Othello Court, Shakespeare Street, was charged with murder on Sunday, while his mother Hanna Skupinski, 57, of Bell Green Road, Coventry, was charged with assisting the offender.

Officers found the body of Marlene Doyle, 32, in Othello Court, Shakespeare Street, at 5:20pm last Thursday

Marlene Doyle (32), was found dead in Othello Court on Shakespeare Street by officers last Thursday at 5:20pm. 

After Marlene disappeared for several days officers raised concerns and found Marlene’s body when they broke into her flat.  

West Midlands Police has confirmed that her death was due to injuries to the head.

The police are asking anyone who has information to contact them. They stated that Marlene’s family was ‘devastated by this tragic news.
