A journalist today accused Stanley Johnson of leering then groping her at a Tory conference – revealing she decided to speak out about it to support another MP who says he slapped her bottom.
Ailbhe, who made this allegation via Twitter last week, said today that she believed he was a nice older man.
She said that he touched her while he was walking past the 2019 Conservative party conference, Manchester.
Ms Rea, who was then 24 years old at the time, said that she was so stunned by his actions she couldn’t speak.
Following claims that Tory MP Caroline Nokes had punched her at the bottom of her body 20 years back, Caroline Nokes stated she felt the need to speak out. Both of these women have been denied by Mr Johnson (81).
The New Statesman reported that Ms Rea stated, “I attended a Conservative conference party.” It took place in Manchester in 2019. Although I didn’t know anyone, I recognized everyone.
“I was just joining a group I knew vaguely, and then a familiar face suddenly turned from the drink table to move through the crowd towards us: Stanley Johnson.
‘I gave him a warm smile – because this was the Prime Minister’s father, a nice older man, and someone I recognised. He smiled back but the gesture became less friendly. He walked by and reached for my hand to touch my back as he passed me.
“His hand fell down and he lingered for far too long. His surprise and confusion was overwhelming. He left me with a sigh of relief. He said nothing.
Ailbhe Rea (New Statesman journalist) described for the first times the alleged incident.
Now 81 years old, PM Johnson’s father, Mr Johnson, has said that he doesn’t recall any incident with either of the women.
It was only the principle of it I protested to. No one should touch me in a sexually explicit way, anyplace, by anybody, except my consent.
‘My Dad, a true Belfast man, collected himself and declared Stanley Johnson a “dirty oul get”, which I appreciate might not translate.’
She added ‘I didn’t want Nokes to be alone in calling out something I knew hadn’t only happened to her.’
Yesterday Boris Johnson’s sister claimed Ms Nokes was ‘not playing the game’ by alleging her father Stanley slapped her on the bottom nearly two decades ago.
Rachel Johnson challenged the validity of Romsey North MP’s 2003 allegation about 2021.’.
The journalist and broadcaster spoke on her podcast, “Difficult women” to say that she does not defend masculine aggressive sexual behavior.
However, the 56-yearold stated that Ms Nokes’ claims about her father were a’reward against women at the end’.
It comes after the Tory MP claimed Stanley Johnson forcefully smacked her on the backside and made a comment at the Conservative Party conference in Blackpool in 2003.
Ms Rea posted previously very limited details on what happened to her.
Caroline Nokes (49), claims that Stanley Johnson slapped her on the bottom in an alleged incident
Ms. Nokes (49) has received widespread praise for her outspokenness about the alleged behavior of Mr. Johnson, which includes by International Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan who said women had for far too long had to deal with ‘casual sexism, the wandering hand’.
However, Johnson spoke on her podcast to discuss the allegation and said that Stanley was in trouble because Ms Johnson (Tory female MP) didn’t play up or play the game when she disclosed that he had smacked her bottom 20 years back.
She said, “What is it really accomplishing?”
It encourages les autres women (encourages other women) to speak out about things they have experienced, but I’ve also heard men say “bloody women”, which means you don’t need to trust them anymore and that we don’t know what to do.
Although I don’t advocate male aggression sexual behavior, it is something that I believe has the potential to harm women.
While speaking to Anne Robinson (former Weakest Link Presenter), Ms. Johnson commented on the podcast. Robinson has been vocal against #MeToo and modern-day feminism.
Johnson recently visited Ms. Robinson. She described Johnson as “her best guest” and also offered her perspective on Ms. Nokes’ claims.
“It’s not for me,” she said.
“I have never advocated for women to whine 20 years later. They suddenly recall something that didn’t bother them then.
“Why didn’t she tell me something?”
Ms Robinson stated that she believed her father was safe. He is very secure in my home, and he makes wonderful company.
Stanley Johnson’s allegations were made by Ms Nokes earlier in the month, an ex-immigration minister now chairing the Women and Equalities Committee.
In 2003, she accused Johnson of forcing her to the side and making comments at the Conservative Party conference. He was running for Tory MP in Blackpool.
In 2005, Johnson was in preparation to stand for Romsey as Hampshire’s constituency representative. Johnson was also running for Teignbridge in Devon during the 2005 election.
I can recall a very prominent man hitting me about the head and saying, Romsey you have a nice seat ”,’, Sky News.
