A 45-yearold woman, newly married, is found dead in Yorkshire. Friends and family pay tribute to her and a man, 45, is arrested for her murder.

Friends and family have been grieving for a newly-married mom whose body was found in a suitcase close to Halifax on Sunday.

Dawn Walker was locally identified as the victim. She was found dead in Lightcliffe’s Aysgarth Avenue, near Brighouse.

Friends who were devastated said Dawn only got married Wednesday and had a very young boy.

A local man aged 45 was arrested on suspicion that he murdered his wife.

He remains in police custody, and police are not actively searching for additional suspects in relation to Dawn’s death.

YorkshireLive was told by a close friend that Dawn was kind, caring, and friendly. She also served as a mother for a little boy.

The friend asked not to be identified because Dawn’s body was discovered in a suitcase near Aysgarth Avenue. Nunlea Rayd has been closed off by police since.

“She got married on Wednesday, and died Sunday morning,” the friend continued.

She had been living on (nearby) Shirley Grove.

“Now a little boy is left without a mother. I believe he is about one-and a half.

Friends and family shared their grief on Facebook about Dawn’s passing, with many calling her a “beautiful” and “kind” person.

Dawn was described as a “kind caring soul” by one woman.

Nunlea Roid’s neighbors were devastated by the news.

One elderly woman stated, “I am gobsmacked. There is no other way to describe it.”

It is terrible. It has been 40 years since I moved here. The horrors that have occurred are just too terrible.

Detectives from West Yorkshire Police are still investigating the murder.

They are keen to speak to an unknown person to report what happened.

The person has not provided any identification to police.

Officers were initially summoned at 4.38pm on Sunday afternoon. However, officers are keen to learn more about suspicious activity during the hours preceding that time.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in Aysgarth Avenue, or nearby streets, on Sunday afternoon between noon and 4.38pm.

Detective Inspector Amanda Wimbles of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said that their investigations into the incident are still in an early stage and that they are keen to speak to the person who originally called us to make a report, as they have not yet identified themselves.
