The first commandment of showbusiness is ‘The Show Must Go On’.
Yet Adele’s record-breaking song career has been a worldwide phenomenon. However, she was facing a lot of backlash today after declaring that she wasn’t ready for the megabucks concert series in Las Vegas.
Fans, many of whom had paid up to £9,000 for resold tickets and had already travelled long distances for the opening night, were left angry and out of pocket when Adele opted to pull the plug at the 11th hour from the string of concerts that would have netted her £500,000 a show.
Gillian RowlandKain 32 was flying to Las Vegas already from New York when the cancellation announcement came through via social media.
Brooklyn attorney said that Adele had waited until the last moment to call him.
It’s not something any artist would want to do, but I’m sure she knew yesterday that it wouldn’t happen by tomorrow.
“Her inability to notice the situation is astonishing. “I’m mad and frustrated.
Adele’s record-breaking singing career has been a worldwide phenomenon. However, today she was facing a lot of backlash for her decision to cancel a series of megabucks concerts in Las Vegas. Adele shared a distressing video via social media Thursday night. It was filmed in the £30,000-a-night penthouse suite at Caesars Palace where she is holed up with her management team and her boyfriend, the American sports agent Rich Paul, 40
“I cannot give you what is mine right now,” said the 33-year-old star. He’s already well-known in music circles for his perfectionism that borders on artistic intransigence. It just isn’t ready.
It was supposed to air on Saturday and Friday nights starting in April. Covid had obstructed the production, according to Covid.
One disappointed fan commented online, “I understand how difficult it is to put together a show especially during a pandemic.” It’s hard to find the time to take off from work to book flights and hotels, and then to fly back two days before showtime to discover that what we were looking forward to isn’t going to be happening.
David, a British fan posted photos from the Caesars Palace venue shortly after the show was cancelled.
Tweeted: ‘Christmas gift has gone pear-shaped. My wife and daughter were on the way to Vegas, and unfortunately Adele was forced to cancel.

Adele was clearly distressed and posted a social media video to express her feelings.

It was supposed to air on Saturday and Friday nights between now and April. Covid’s derailment of the production was explained.
Adele claimed that “half” of her crew was gone with the virus. The surge is in Nevada.
Adele claimed that “half” of her staff and team had been affected by the virus. The surge is in Nevada. Scott Roeben from Vegas, a journalist for casino.org, broke the story about Adele’s residency. Many performers and crew members are leaving Vegas shows.
She stated, “We have done everything possible to get it assembled in time so that it is good enough for your needs, but delivery delays and Covid have completely destroyed our efforts to do it right.”
“Half of my team and crew are” [ill]Covid was still with us, so it has been difficult to complete the show. I’m gutted — I’m sorry it’s so last minute, we’ve been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out and we’ve run out of time.
“I am so sad and embarrassed. I’m sorry for everyone who travelled. I really, truly regret it.
Scott Roeben is a Vegas journalist who reports on casino.org about the residency. He said that it was a “misunderstanding” and that she felt upset at having to report this. Many performers and crew have left Vegas’ shows.
The supply disruption is also very real. It was obvious that she wasn’t taking the decision lightly. She seemed very upset and tired.
He said, “One thing that I would say is that a reliable source shared with me the possibility of delays several weeks back.” The concerns had existed for some time, even though the decision might have been made suddenly. Although ticket sales are a possibility, I doubt it.
Some people are not so understanding. A veteran of the industry with many decades of experience retorted: “I couldn’t believe it!” In the beginning, you’ll learn that ‘The Show Must Go On’ must be the main message in your business. That’s it. Artists cannot cancel or withdraw.
“Look at The Rolling Stones. Their performances have been uninterrupted for fifty years, with only two postponements. L’Wren Scott, Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, committed suicide once and he needed heart surgery twice.
‘Otherwise, on you go – even when Charlie Watts died.’
He added: “Adele has a form in this field and is a perfectionist.” She has cancelled shows before – she cancelled two shows in London in 2017 which she said she would reschedule and she never did.’
An insider spoke of two gigs in her hometown that were cancelled because the star had damaged her vocal chords.
There were rumblings in Vegas since the beginning of 2012. It was reported that Adele didn’t like any extravagant staging. It should be about her voice. It could have been a sign that she was feeling more anxious.
Even so, the show was filled with production effects as well as a multitude of singers and musicians. In January, 60 vocalists auditioned and were selected to perform in the opening song of Skyfall.
Caesars Palace embarked on a complete overhaul of the dressing room originally created for Celine Dion – leading many to be convinced that Adele was in it for the long haul.
Many in Vegas believed that the plan was for her to keep on with the residency until 2024, potentially netting her up to £100million – £50million from performance fees and the rest from merchandising.
Roger Friedman, a gossip columnist was persuaded that something had gone wrong by January 18.
For although the shows sold out instantly online during the pre-sales period and many tickets have since been sold again at inflated prices, Friedman noted there were still hundreds of tickets available on a resale website at around £400 each, and prices were said to be dropping.
Yesterday, he said that the whole Adele Vegas residency was a failure. The statement “We aren’t ready at the last minute” doesn’t make sense. This isn’t the Rolling Stones show on stage.
Adele lives with an orchestra and lighting. There aren’t any pyrotechnics, she isn’t gliding across the stage in a hookup.
‘Plus, let’s face it… this is only two shows per weekend. The show could be delayed for a few weeks if it isn’t finished. Missed shows can then have their scheduled reschedule at the end.
‘But they’ve scrapped the whole thing… so it’s not just a matter of not being ready… doesn’t make sense.’
He said, “Las Vegas is filled with talented musicians.” There are always replacements for those who become ill.
Caesars Palace has been closing ranks. Staff have been advised that they may be terminated if the staff speaks to the media.
Adele described her constant panic and fear on the stage. She added that it was getting worse. I heard that Adele was in a panic before she filmed the Audience With episode (above) last October for ITV.
The statement read: “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the postponement Weekends With Adele. Adele, an extraordinary artist, is deeply committed to her music. It is extremely difficult to put together a show this large.
“We stand with Adele. We are sure the spectacular show that she will unveil at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum is going to be unforgettable.”
Covid, however, was not mentioned.
A source close to Adele says Covid is causing problems. But, speculation is bound about her concern over live performance.
On Twitter, she stated that she would reschedule all shows. She will have more information soon. However, it is no secret that she dislikes touring and has crippling stage anxiety.
Interviewer on TV: She stated that live performances make her anxious about audiences. In Amsterdam, one night I was so scared I ran for the exit. I have thrown up several times. One time in Brussels I projectile vomited onto someone. I just gotta bear it. But I don’t like touring. It is a common symptom of anxiety.
She talked about her “constant panicking at the stage, my heart feels as if it’s going out of control because I don’t feel capable of performing, ever” and said that things are actually worsening.
I was told that she was in a panic before filming Audience With for ITV last October.
“She was freaking in the dressing area, and this was for an invite audience of friends. According to one guest, the atmosphere was extremely tense.
“Ben Winston produced the show, and it was so stressful that he looked sick.” Adele’s ‘nervousness’ was the problem. After flubbing the melody she was singing, Adele had to restart two songs. She appeared ‘unconfident of her voice’.
Source adds that “Nobody cancels the day prior.” Covid issues can be notified 24 hours in advance. According to my sources, Adele didn’t want to perform the Vegas shows.
‘I have doubts that they will be scheduled again; I don’t believe she’s capable of performing at this level for so many dates.
In 2017, during a concert in New Zealand (above), Adele said: ‘Touring isn’t something I’m good at – applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable. “I don’t know when I will tour again.”
“She’s a perfectionist, and it is evident in her dedication to putting back albums until they are perfect. More than this, she’s a recording artist. She shouldn’t have signed on for these performances.
“She is very sensitive to stage fright and hates performing on stage. It is insane for her to say she will be on the stage three times a week for three months. She would eventually decide that she was not going to perform on stage for three months.
In 2017, during a concert in New Zealand, Adele said: ‘Touring isn’t something I’m good at – applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable. It’s not clear if I’ll ever go on tour again.
Two times she pulled out from US tours. In 2008 she pulled out of US tours because she wasn’t well-known and cited ‘personal family reason’. She pulled out twice of her tours to America in 2011, once due to laryngitis, and again because she suffered from vocal hemorhage.
She cancelled an Arizona concert because of illness in 2016. Gareth Malone is a choir master who insists Adele’s vocal technique renders her inept for performing on stage.
He stated that her singing style was very damaging to the vocal chords. Too much air is allowed in, which can irritate the throat and vocal chords. She pushes her voice too hard.
“It brings out emotion. But, it is a singing style that only works in a recording studio. It is not a good idea to try performing like this on a live tour.
What’s the point of suffering through this agony? Worth an estimated £150million, it’s not as though she needs the money.
Rumours started to circulate that Adele wanted a residency in Vegas to help promote her latest studio album 30.
Billboard reported that in October, as she had released Easy On Me’s first single, Billboard said she was planning to make a Vegas residency.
The report also indicated that Adele had no “holds” placed on arenas or stadiums across North America in preparation for any potential tour. It meant that Adele and her management did not entertain the notion of touring.
Adele actually denied it in an interview to Rolling Stone. ‘There’s nothing f***ing available,’ she said.
Her comments included that planning was impossible due to the pandemic. It’s unpredictable and there are so many rules. It’s not okay for anyone to be scared of my show. I also don’t want Covid.
Shortly thereafter, she declared that she would be playing two British Summer Time concerts Hyde Park.
She announced her Las Vegas residency on November 30th. Sources indicate that negotiations – although swift – were not straightforward.
Roeben stated that Rival hotel Resorts World believed they had the first. She was certain that they would be able to fulfill her demands. A source told me that they had already begun production elements and were currently looking at the pyrotechnics.
“It was probably a handshake agreement that they believed in, but it didn’t work out.” According to me, Adele was concerned that the theatre would become a new one and that she would be the first. The mega-hotel was opened June 20, 2021.
Caesars Palace sweetened the deal by putting their private plane at her disposal – Vegas is just a 45-minute flight from Los Angeles where she lives with son Angelo, nine – and the idea was that she would use it to shuttle back home.
Celine Dion, her idol, launched The Colosseum At Caesars Palace in 2003, adding an additional appeal.
Celine built the venue, while Adele brought her best friend, Alan Carr, along to see her during her second residency. This was when Dion gave 70 shows between 2011-2019.
This is the main venue in Vegas. It has been home to Elton John and Bette Midler as well as Cher and Mariah carey.
Adele will she join the ranks of greats? We will only know when it is.
