Surveillance cameras caught the moment as a group of assassins peacefully strolled across Mexico’s beach. They shot down two dealers in drugs in broad daylight, before getting on speedboats and making their way home.
The attackers sent scores of guests running for cover at the $400-a-night Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancún and adjacent Azul Beach Resort last Thursday in Puerto Morelos, south of Cancún, in what the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office described as a dispute over control of the lucrative drug trade turf.
Security cameras spotted the 15 men in armour walking near the property at 2 p.m. local time. Another surveillance camera later showed them tackling a suspected drug dealer. He was then dragged off and killed.
The Hyatt Ziva Hotel is approached by a worker from a hotel. The hotel was just steps away when gunmen shot a second drug-pusher who tried to escape.
The victim was said to have sustained an injury during the attack by authorities. The victim may have been a Hyatt Ziva guest, or an employee.

César ‘G’ and Miguel ‘Y’ drove the 15 attackers to the area near the Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancún and Azul Beach Resort last Thursday in Puerto Morelos were the gunmen killed two rival dealers. Two feuding gangs were involved in the Sinaloa Cartel, according to both of the suspects.
An additional camera caught the gunmen entering the bay and getting onboard two ships to escape through Petempich Bay.
The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office announced Friday the apprehensions of two men, identified as César ‘G’ and Miguel ‘Y’. Authorities were informed that both men admitted to transporting the attackers to the area of the hotel before unleashing the attack.
Three members of the group that was attacked – Alexander ‘C’, Gael ‘P’ and José ‘P’ – were also arrested Friday.
Initial investigations show that the gun the attack was sparked by the ongoing feud between two drug dealing factions connected to Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán’s Sinaloa Cartel.
According to the QuintanaRoo State Attorney General’s office, attacks were ordered by jailed Sinaloa Cartel members Josué ‘S’ and Hugo ‘P’ who are being held at the Benito Juárez Social Rehabilitation Center.
Authorities are also looking to arrest Uriel ‘P’ for his role in orchestrating the attack.
Two weeks ago, two tourists from California were killed in a shooting at a Tulum restaurant. Three others were also injured in the shootout. The incident was linked to nine arrests by law enforcement.
The footage was captured by a security camera and shows an armoured group of assassins moving through the property at Puerto Morelos Beach, Mexico. They were there before killing two other drug dealers.

Oscar Montes de Oca, Quintana Roo’s attorney general, stated to Imagen Radio that close to 10 gangs are attempting street drug sales in Tulum. He also said that two other gangs are vying for position in Puerto Morelos.
Drug sales rose due to 20 million tourists visiting the Caribbean coastline.
Montes de Oca stated that “we are faced with an issue of supply & demand for drugs.”
Governor Carlos called the attack ‘a serious blow to the development and security of the state … putting the image of the state at grave risk.’
Antonio Chaves (leader of Maya Riviera Hotel Association) told The Associated Press that the shootings could have an adverse effect on the state’s tourism sector, which has been recovering from the coronavirus epidemic.
Chaves stated that despite suffering it will not deter the drug gangs.
He stated that these criminal groups don’t pay much attention to the environment, the times, or the surroundings and it affects tourism.

This latest episode in violence by drug gangs has hurt Mexico’s Caribbean coast reputation as an once-tranquil place.
Both resorts received photos from guests who posted them on social media showing tourists nervously or hiding in the lobby.

Keith Jackson, an English tourist, was seen leaving the beach shortly before the shooting began. He said that he wasn’t sure if he would return to the beach. After this, we aren’t sure if we will return.
Jackson stated that Jackson was referring to the two Tulum women who were murdered in crossfire. “So, we were all worried about what might happen and how we would be caught up in it.
