According to a White House spokesperson, President Joe Biden tested negative against COVID-19 Sunday as he flew between Rome and Scotland for a major summit on climate change.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the spokeswoman for the conference, stated that the PCR test was a routine exam taken as part of the entry requirements for attendance to the conference in Britain. 

It was revealed hours after White House press secretary Jen Psaki announced she had tested positive for the virus.

Jean-Pierre stated that the positive testing had not had an affect on the White House.

She stated that “fortunately her symptoms are mild.” 

“We can’t wait for our her back, to be back together safely, and we are sending our very best wishes to Jen’s family.

42-year old Psaki has received two doses vaccine. She said she was last in contact Tuesday with the president and they sat over 6 feet apart while wearing masks.

This makes her the most visible member in the Biden administration to test positive.

‘While I have not had close contact in person with the president or senior members of the White House staff since Wednesday – and tested negative for four days after that last contact – I am disclosing today’s positive test out of an abundance of transparency,’ she said in a statement. 

‘I saw the president last Tuesday when we sat out more than six feet apart and wore masks. 

Biden had to cancel her trip to Rome for the summit, so she was replaced by Jean-Pierre, principal deputy press secretary. 

Officials cited a family emergency at the time.

Psaki stated that he had made the decision to not travel with the President to the foreign trip due to a family emergency. This was due to members of my household being positive for COVID-19.

She claimed that she was working from home. 

“Thanks to the vaccine I have only experienced mild symptoms, which has allowed me to continue working at home. 

“I will return to work personally at the end of the ten-day quarantine following a negative rapid testing, which is an additional White House requirement beyond CDC guidance. This is done out of an abundance caution.

Biden arrived in Rome on Thursday. 

After a Friday audience with the pope and two days of G20 summitry, he flew to Scotland Monday for a major U.N. Climate conference.

His press secretary would normally be expected to attend such a significant trip. This is Biden’s chance at making an impact at multiple global summits, as president.  

White House staff and others accompanying the president have been taking daily COVID-19 tests since before they left Washington. They are all fully vaccinated. 

Due to their work environment and frequent travel, many officials have received booster shots.

Biden received his COVID-19 boost on September 27, shortly after federal regulators approved the third dosage for many Americans.

He is also tested every two weeks. 

Kamala Harris, Vice President, received hers on Saturday. 

Donald Trump, Biden’s predecessor, was adamant about avoiding masks and minimizing the risks.

He contracted COVID-19 at the end of his 2020 presidential campaign, and Kayleigh McEnany, his press secretary, also got the virus.
