Experts claim that most of the Black Friday sales advertised on websites or in stores are myths.

A study of last year’s “bargains” suggested that nine in ten items were priced the same as the sale event.

Which? is the Consumer Champion The Which? Consumer champion analysed 201 last-year’s Amazon, AO deals, Argos and Currys sales, John Lewis sales, Richer Sounds sales, and John Lewis discounts. There were 184 products in total, which included TVs and other popular goods, that were either the same or lower price during the six-months prior to Black Friday.

John Lewis had a Zanussi washing-machine that was more affordable on 88 separate days. 

Ele Clark of Which? said that a majority of Black Friday sales aren’t as great as it seems. This is why it’s important to research the deals before you jump in.

All six retailers stood by their Black Friday deals.

Research showed that Currys 32 deals were either the same or lower in price over the past six months.

A Bush 100cm Dual Fuel Range Cooker was sold at Argos for £449.99, but it was actually the same price 66 times before and 19 times after Black Friday.

Currys reported that in 2020 more than 98% of Black Friday products would be equal or below their current six-monthly lowest price, and 54% were their lowest price ever.

Last year’s bargains were analyzed and it was found that nine of ten items weren’t cheaper because they were part of the sales event.

Richer Sounds had four real deals out of 14 of all the retailers that were analyzed.
