Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin was set to launch its third space tourism flight on Thursday, but forecasted winds has pushed the mission to Saturday, December 11.
Launch Site One’s liftoff is scheduled for 9:00 AM ET. It will be located in Van Horn, West Texas.
This flight will include six passengers, who include Good Morning America co-host Michael Strahan and Laura Shepard Churchley — the eldest daughter of Alan Shepard, who was the first American to fly to space.
They are Dylan Taylor, philanthropist and executive in the space industry, and Evan Dick. Cameron Bess is the founder of Bess Ventures. This will be the first time a parent and child duo has flown into space.
Wednesday’s announcement also states that the team has completed Flight Readiness Review and the vehicle has met all mission requirements for launch.

Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin was set to launch its third space tourism flight on Thurs, but forecasted winds has pushed the mission to Sat. Launch Site One’s launch is scheduled for 9:45 AM ET (stock photo).
‘Astronauts will complete training today and weather remains as the only gating factor for launch,’ Blue Origin shared in a blog post.
Saturday’s mission marks New Shepard’s 19th flight and the first time the rocket will carry six people inside the Blue Origin capsule to space – previous missions only included four individuals.
A six-person team will take off at least 65 miles over the ocean surface. They’ll spend around 10 minutes in zero-gravity.
Blue Origin says that space travels are a way to help realize the company’s goal of thousands of Earth-friendly people.
Good Morning America anchor Michael Strahan, and Laura Shepard Churchley (eldest daughter to Alan Shepard), were given their seats on the New Shepard rocket. The launch is scheduled for Dec 11.
Strahan was a New York Giants member who won a Super Bowl. He was also inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame 2014
Strahan, who retired in 2009 has been a recipient of two Emmy awards and a Peabody Award as a journalist.
He co-hosts ‘Good Morning America’ and hosts the game show, ‘$100,000. Pyramid.
I have to admit, there are many people that look around and say “You know? Strahan spoke with Bezos in an interview following Blue Origin’s first human flight.
Dylan Taylor, an investor and space industry executive who is also philanthropist and a philanthropist, are the paying customers.
It’s not about going to space. The importance of this issue is also important for education, and the many other things on our planet.
Blue Origin informs Strahan that he was invited on the flight and will be receiving a stipend.
Shepard Churchley bears the legendary last name of Alan Shepard (pictured), who was the first American in space.
However, he is planning on donating the amount to the Boys & Girls Club.
Shepard Churchley bears the name of her father, the man who sent Americans into space with a suborbital flight on the Mercury capsule Freedom 7 in May 1961.
Shepard Churchley, who spoke in an interview with Blue Origin, said that he finds it kind of funny to tell you that an original Shepard will fly the New Shepard.
She serves currently as the Astronaut Scholar Foundation Board Chair. The foundation provides mentorship and funding for students pursuing STEM-related careers.
Churchley will become America’s second and second-generation astronaut to reach space.
Richard Garriott (son of Owen Garriott who was a Skylab and Space Shuttle astronaut) was the first. He funded his 2008 trip to International Space Station.
According to collectSpace: “For our purposes today the thing that’s most interesting about Alan Shepard it that he’s the namesake of this vehicle, New Shepard. That’s because the mission profile which we did today is very close to the one Alan flew when they became the first American to go into space 60-ish years ago,” Bezos told a press conference after his flight.
Taylor, the third member of the flight, is the Chairman & CEO of Voyager Space, a global space exploration firm headquartered in Denver.
Lane Bess Ventures founder Cameron Bess & Cameron Bess are the parents and children who will fly together in space.
Additionally, he is the founder and CEO of Space for Humanity, a global non-profit organization that organizes the world’s first Sponsored Citizen Astronaut Programme.
Dick is an engineer. He also invests and serves as a managing member for Dick Holdings.
Additionally, he’s an ATP-rated pilot which means he can fly any airline. He also enjoys riding his bike and sailing.
Cameron and Lane Bess will be the father-son team that first ventures into the last frontier.
Six passengers will travel the same route as Bezos (second left) on July 20th, when he and his brother Mark (second right) travelled 66 miles beyond the surface. The brothers were joined by Oliver Daemen (left) and Wally Funk (right)
Shatner (second left) is at 90 the oldest person to be in space. In October, he made the incredible journey with Chris Boshuizen (second right), Glen de Vries(right), and Audrey Powerss (left). Powers is Blue Origin’s vice president for mission.
Lane is most well-known for helping to start and grow two cybersecurity businesses, Zscaler Networks and Palo Alto Networks. His son, however, is a content creator.
Blue Origin says that Cameron is a pansexual.
Blue Origin’s first space tourist flight, which launched in July, included Bezos himself and the second on October 13 saw William Shatner, actor famed for playing Captain Kirk on Star Trek, travel 65 miles above the surface.
Bezos didn’t announce the price of the flight but Tom Hanks (actor) said that he wouldn’t pay 28 million for the seat in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.
