After hitting her partner with a glass, a bride-to be hit had her bloodied from the blow.

Megan Haylett, 22, ‘went out to drink’ the woman at Gateshead. However her inability to coordinate while being’mortal drunk’ meant that the glass struck her face.

A gaping wound was found on the forehead of the victim, which needed to be treated in hospital to eliminate broken glass.

It was discovered that Haylett’s future husband Jordan Stagg had sex with Haylett before, telling Haylett how much he loved her.

Haylett, 26, was handed a suspended prison term for her role in the brawl and ordered to pay her victim £5,000 in compensation following the accidental attack.

Following the horrifying attack on her 22-year-old victim, she was left with bloody glass fragments on her forehead as well as a blackened eye.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the victim, who was a student, had been pursued in December 2019 by future groom Jordan Stagg, who said by text ‘how much he liked her’ and how bad his relationship was with his then-fiancé Haylett.

Newcastle Crown Court heard Stagg had sex with the woman after his ‘flattering’ comments, and then he stopped her from getting in touch.

Neil Pallister, Prosecutor said she discovered that Stagg was not as romantically involved with Haylett and then felt guilty.

The victim, who was socializing at Vulcan in Winlaton Gateshead on January 24, 2013, realized Haylett was there with her at the bar.

According to the prosecution, Haylett began to ‘flick her hair’ towards the victim. This prompted her to react and ask if Haylett ‘wanted outside’.

According to Mr Pallister, the victim described defendant as mortally drunk.

She saw the defendant reach out to her, and realized she was carrying a drink in her hand.

“The defendant drunkenly shook her with the contents and also hit her with the glass.

She felt pain in her left side and saw blood running down her cheeks, clearly from the fact that she had been bitten by the glass.

“She felt another blow on her back and watched the defendant be led away by others.

For treatment, the victim was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.

Haylett was not injured, according to the Prosecutors.

Haylett, Silvertop Terrace Greenside Ryton Gateshead, admitted illegal wounding, and was released from jail.

Mr Recorder Ben Nolan QC sentenced her to 14 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements and an order to pay £5,000 compensation to the victim.

Haylett was told by the judge that both of them had to feel humiliated and that he understood her intention.

Tony Cornberg, the defender, stated that Haylett is married and had many character references. She and her husband both work.

Cornberg stated that a “reckless swill” caused the injury and said: “She has been truly remorseful, and she has displayed insight, awareness, and concern.

“It was an awful blip in a otherwise decent life.”
