William Shatner, 90 years old, played Captain Kirk and wielded the phaser rifle during the second episode of the series, ‘Where No Man Has Gone Before,’ in 1966.
He took the place of Commander Pike, the original pilot, and used the weapon to capture Dr Dehner as well as Commander Mitchell.
Shatner was recently named the oldest person to have been in space. An epic journey aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket.

The rifle measures 34 inches and is made of wood. It has an aluminum shaft.
Gene Roddenberry, the show’s creator, wanted a “really big gun” to add drama to the action scenes.
Spock, played prior to Kirk, also handles the episode.
The gun was used for promotional material, including an early lunchbox.
Collectors will be delighted to know that this is the only screen appearance of it.
The prop is being sold by a private collector with Heritage Auctions, of Dallas, Texas, in a timed sale which ends on Thursday.

Joe Maddalena, executive Vice President of Heritage, stated that the phaser rifle is the most famous prop weapon from Star Trek: TOS.
“Captain Kirk holding the phaser rifle are some the most memorable images from the series. It’s truly unique and one-of-a kind, and the best of all the best.
Shatner starred as Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series between 1966 and 1969, as well in a string if films.
On October 13, he was aboard the sub-orbital capsule Blue Origin, reaching an altitude 351,186 feet above Earth’s Surface. There they spent three minutes in weightlessness and an 11-minute flight.
