Dean Stockwell, best-known for his role in Quantum Leap as Admiral Al Calavicci (Quality Leap), has died at 85. He had been a successful 70-year career.

  • Representative confirmed that the actor, who was a veteran actor, died in his own home peacefully from natural causes Sunday morning.

  • Critically acclaimed, the actor won four Primetime Emmy Nominations for his role. He also received Best Actor in Supporting Role at The 1990 Golden Globes.

Dean Stockwell, who is best remembered for his role as Admiral Al Calavicci on the iconic series Quantum Leap in the early 1990s, has passed away at 85. His acting career spanned more than 70 years.

A representative for TMZ confirmed that the veteran actor passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning.

Stockwell starred with Scott Bakula for all 97 episodes. The sci-fi series aired in five seasons, 1989-1993.

Stockwell earned his name in Hollywood starring in films including  Anchors Aweigh (1945), The Green Years (1946), Gentleman’s Agreement (1947), and Kim (1950).

His career continued as a young adult as he earned his first lead role  in the 1957 Broadway and 1959 screen adaptations of Compulsion.

 He went on to earn the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his work starring as Edmund Tyrone in the film adaptation of Long Day’s Journey Into The Night.

Joy Stockwell and their children Austin, Sophie, and Sophie, are survivors of Stockwell.
