When guests book a stay at Claridge’s, they look forward to dining on lobster en croute, caviar and foie gras in art-deco splendour at the top Mayfair establishment known as an ‘annexe to Buckingham Palace’ because of its long- standing connections with royalty.

But soon its regulars will have to start eating nut roasts, lentil stews, and other delicious dishes.

The five-star hotel’s star chef Daniel Humm is in tense discussions with me because he plans to make the restaurant completely vegan.

An insider told me that it was a nightmare for hotel staff. The bosses are afraid that Humm may leave if he doesn’t meet his demands, meaning they will be without Humm during Christmas, when it is their busiest season.

“But, if they make the restaurant vegan they’ll upset many regular customers.”

Humm recently made headlines around the world by turning the £250-a-head menu at his three-Michelin-starred New York restaurant, Eleven Madison Park, totally plant-based.

You can also enjoy dishes like cucumber with melon, smoked daikon and Swiss chard or courgette with lemongrass & tofu.

Meanwhile, the four-course menu at his Claridge’s restaurant, Davies And Brook, costs £125 a head and includes such mouth-watering options as caviar with sweet potato bonito and English muffin; roasted venison with beetroot; and, of course, foie gras with black truffle.

According to A Claridge, a spokesperson for the company confirmed that they are in discussions with Humm regarding his request. He said: “We are continuously reviewing the offerings at Davies and Brook, including the possibility of an entirely plant-based menu.”

But, I have been told by sources that the diplomatic reply hints only at tensions hidden behind closed doors.

Humm (45) made a stop at Cop26 Eco Summit in Glasgow this week. He stated that his goal in life is to make plant-based foods delicious, magical, and luxurious.

He said, “It’s better to our planet and for our health.”

Although such an abrupt change might be appealing to a young generation, Claridge’s will remember the motto: “Go woke, go broke.”

City superwoman Dame Helena Morrissey came up with a stylish way to avoid piercing her dress with a poppy brooch on Armistice Day yesterday.

Instead, the 55-year-old mother-of-9 wore a cream sleeveless frock with the symbol red flower.

Helena created this outfit along with Lisa Redman. They drew the poppy designs on paper and then hand-stitch them using silk threads.

Michelle Mone (lingerie tycoon and nicknamed Baroness Bra) has ended her public speaking career.

The Glaswegian is 50 and plans to “focus on her children and new ventures”. She says that while public speaking continues to scare me, she’ll miss the pride and feeling of achievement.

The Affair star Dominic West’s wife, Catherine FitzGerald, willingly took over the reins of Glin Castle after her father, Desmond, the last Knight of Glin, died in 2011 with no son to inherit his title.

Catherine, a 50-year-old landscape designer is reluctant to forcibly give her 15 bedroom ancestral home, County Limerick in Ireland to her children.

According to the Duchess Podcast, “The notion that someone has been enslaved from birth does not feel right.” “You have to let people go do what they like and if they feel the need to return, they should be able to take on it in their own way.

Catherine stood beside West, 52 years old, when he was caught canoodling in Rome last year with Lily James (32), his co-star from The Pursuit Of Love.

Stanbury’s away match and Sergio soccer’s

Caroline Stanbury was 18 years older than Prince Andrew and began dating a Spanish footballer who had been playing in Spain for years. It wasn’t something anyone expected to last especially after she split with her husband.

However, Ladies of London’s star 45 was able to prove them wrong yesterday by marrying Sergio Carrallo (inset), on Mauritius’s beaches. The couple live in Dubai, where they will have a big wedding party next month, but chose to exchange vows on 11/11 — a date which some believe symbolises soulmates.

When Prince Andrew's confidante Caroline Stanbury (pictured) started going out with a Spanish former footballer 18 years her junior, few thought it would last, particularly as she'd just split from the father of her three children

Caroline, who was wearing a white spaghetti strap dress, stated that it showed people that the event was real. ‘When I met Sergio, he was 24 and lost in life — he’d finished a big career and didn’t know what was next. Everything changes when you find the right partner. My partner is the best thing in the universe.

Grace, Grace’s daughter, was the Duchess and Duchess’s weddingmaid. But Rose van Cutsem, Rose van Cutsem, has embarrased his distinguished family.

According to my sources, Frederick Astor (19 years old) was given an 18-month sentence at Oxford Magistrates Court for biting on a policeman after going through a binge-drug-fueled spree at Thomas’ Cotswolds estate.

Frederick Astor was the great-grandson of David Astor who founded Classic FM. He also verbally abused three officers at Merriscourt House in Oxfordshire.

Andrew Lloyd Webber certainly thinks so. The West End composer treated Mojito, his black Havanese, to a £49 Regency-style afternoon tea at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, on which he spent £60 million restoring it to its former glory.

Mojito had a seat of his own — and particularly enjoyed the sausage rolls. Woof woof.
