After allegedly recruiting soldiers for the overthrow of the French government through the seizure of the presidential palace, a far-right conspirator has been charged.
Rémy Daillet, 54, is accused along with 12 co-conspirators of terrorism after attempting to form an extremist group to plan a series of attacks against the state.
His lawyer claimed that Daillet is being held as an ‘political prisoner’.

The Frenchman is currently being investigated for allegedly orchestrating the kidnapping of an eight year-old girl from her grandmother in eastern France.
Five days later, the girl was found safe with her mother in Switzerland.
Anti-terrorism investigators realized that the abduction involved several people they had previously placed under surveillance for unrelated far left extremism.
The BBC reported that French prosecutors issued a warrant international for Daillet, who was then living in Malaysia.
The former regional leader in politics was expelled from his party and deported for not having a valid visa. He was then arrested in June after he returned to his homeland.
He said that it wasn’t a kidnapping and that it was the return of a baby to her mother at her request.
However, his legal woes have only gotten worse after he was under investigation for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy network called Honour and Nation.
54-year-old Daillet is charged with terrorism after attempting formation of an extremist group to plan a series attacks against the state.
He is believed to have used encrypted messages in order to create the shadowy group that included dozens of members who supported anti-vaxx and neoNazi propaganda in eastern France.
Last week, Daillet was charged with terrorist conspiracy along with other members of the group by a judge.
They are accused of plotting attacks on vaccine centres, journalists, and a masonic Lodge.
One source said they were aiming for a ‘coup d’état’.
However, Daillet’s lawyer stated that he only called for a peaceful end to the political system. He also maintained his faith in French justice despite being charged.
BFM TV said former soldiers had been tasked with training recruits for an ambitious plot to storm the Elysée Palace, the residence of Emmanuel Macron.
They then planned on seizing the French parliament, before capturing a TV or radio station to spread their message.
In a YouTube video published last year, Daillet said: ‘I have decided to take power in France, to restore this country, to give you your freedom.’
