After a three year battle with stage four prostate carcinoma, James Michael Tyler, Friends actor, passed away at 59 at his Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
A representative for Gunther, the actor on the hit NBC series confirmed that the actor had died to TMZ.
‘The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh “Friend”), from the hit series “Friends,” but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband,’ his family said in a statement.

His family stated that Michael loved live entertainment and cheering for his Clemson Tigers. They also shared that Michael was fond of unplanned adventures and enjoyed being in them. He was a friend for life if you have ever met him.
The actor was first diagnosed in 2018 with cancer and did not reveal his battle until this year.
Tyler appeared on 150 episodes during the show’s run from 1994 to 2004. He has also appeared on shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Modern Music. He has also appeared on Scrubs.
Tyler is survived by his large Jennifer Carno.
