Halyna, the sister of cinematographer Halyna Houtchins, died on set after Alec Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun. This happened just days before hundreds gathered in Burbank, California for a candlelight vigil.

The 42-year old mother was killed while making the Western film ‘Rust’ on Thursday 21 October.

‘I cannot comprehend (her passing),’ Hutchins’ younger sister, Svetlana Androsovych told the Kyiv Post. ‘I loved and admired her. She was my role model. We were always close and maintained contact despite distance.

“This loss is a terrible grief for our family and I can see how difficult it is for our parents. Hopefully, time will ease our heartache,’ said Androsovych, who now lives in Indonesia. Both Androsovych, Hutchins were born in Ukraine. Their parents still live in Kyiv.

Hutchins has left behind Andros, a nine-year-old boy, and Matthew Hutchins, Matthew Hutchins.

Many were impressed by her determination. Her marriage and relationship with her husband is an example to follow – no quarrels or scandals. It was real love, their beautiful son, is proof of that, we call him ‘wunderkind’ – a brilliant and capable boy.’

Meanwhile, on Sunday, hundreds of people from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 80 gathered in Burbank, California for a vigil honoring Hutchins.

Alec Baldwin tragedy leaves a ‘kind and loving cinematographer’ dead: Ukraine-born Halyna Houtchins, 42, was raised by a Soviet military base, surrounded with nuclear submarines, and trained as a journalist. She was also tipped to be a rising star of Hollywood.

Halyna was born in Ukraine, raised on a Soviet military base “surrounded by reindeer, nuclear submarines”, and had previously been trained as a journalist. She spent time in Europe working for British documentaries before moving to Los Angeles, where her career had been established and she had started a family.

Friends recall Halyna as a kind’ and ‘loving soul’. She lived in Venice Beach with Matthew, a lawyer and their son Andros.

In a touching Instagram tribute, a friend wrote that Halyna loved him and enjoyed watching him develop into the handsome boy he was today. “I know she is looking after Matt in this horribly frightening time.

Halyna smiles brightens up social media photos, capturing a playfulness in adventure and a sense that there is always something to see.

She was highly respected by her peers and was regarded as a rising star by other cinematographers. Adam Mortimer, a friend, colleague, and director of the film, said to GMB that she was a person who was devoted to art and integrity. ‘I could tell that she was going be a genius.

Baldwin, 62, was filming scenes for Rust, when the gun went off. Hutchins died, and Joel Souza (48), was injured. The incident took place at Bonanza Creek Ranch.

Hutchins was airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital by an air ambulance, but was declared dead shortly afterwards.

Souza was taken by ambulance from his home to the Christus St Vincent Regional Medical Center. Although his exact condition remains unknown, Souza has been released.

Will Stewart, Daily Mail’s Moscow correspondent told how Halyna had been for him in mid-2000s.

“This is terrible and unintelligible news about Halyna’s death. After graduating from a local university, she was trained in International Journalism and worked for my news agency from Kyiv during the mid-2000s.

“Halyna” was involved in many stories in British newspapers and magazines. But she had a special talent for documentaries. This was her first exposure to film and it helped her become so successful in America.

“At this point while she was with me, in 2006, she was Associate producer on a Discovery Channel documentary about Ukrainian icon Leonid Statnyk, called World’s Tallest Man, made British company Wild Pictures.

‘She was instrumental to Mr Stadnyk feeling at home participating in the documentary, which focused on the problems associated with being extraordinarily tall.

“The film, which was directed by Richard Denton in Britain, was produced with Paul Hamann, the former Head of Documentaries BBC, as executive producers.

“Mr Stadnyk was shy and trusted Halyna after refusing other offers for film. He thanked her for her trust and thanked her for it.

‘Pictures before the film show him towering above Halyna at the home he shares with his wife in the village of Podoliantsy.

“She later traveled to the USA with her husband Matt. She achieved great things due to her enormous talent and creativity, but also her unwavering determination to learn and study.

“She once said to my Russian colleagues that she felt like she was a perpetual student of America. But her efforts paid off and she got the success she deserved.

“It is tragic that she died in such an inexplicable and cruel way while doing the job she loved.

“Our thoughts, prayers, and best wishes to Matt and their son, Halyna and their family in Ukraine.

Richard Denton, the producer of Shakespeare Uncovered and many films from the former USSR, stated today that Halyna was the most wonderful person to work alongside.

‘She was friendly, and very helpful. She did everything, from translating interviews to getting Leonid’s horse moving in the right direction.

“She was completely unpretentious, and incredibly professional.”

Her death was’senseless, stupid’

Sunday’s vigil participants viewed Hutchins’ death as a warning for the film industry about the dangers set workers face every day while at work.

Jennifer Jernigan, actress, said that she hoped this would bring about real change.

She said, “You are completely vulnerable when you’re on set.”

Thursday’s statement by the ‘Rust” production company stated, “The entire cast & crew has been absolutely devastated today’s tragedy, we send our deepest condolences Halyna’s loved ones and their families.

“We have halted film production for an undetermined time and are fully cooperating to the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigations. As we process this terrible event, we will provide counseling services for all those involved with the film.

Their father Anatoly Androsovych told the Scottish Sun that he was arranging a trip for him and his wife Olga and Svetlana to fly to the United States to visit their grieving grandson/nephew.

Androsovych stated that he had blamed Baldwin for Hutchins’ death. Then, he revealed that Matthew will decide whether or no to press charges in relation her tragic workplace death.

Court records show that Dave Halls, an assistant director, handed a prop gun off of a cart to Baldwin, falsely telling him that the handgun did not carry live rounds calling it a ‘cold gun.’

Baldwin pulled the trigger and accidentally fired the weapon, killing Hutchins and injuring Joel Souza.

Baldwin was said to be ‘hysterical’ and ‘absolutely inconsolable for hours’ after shooting and killing Halyna Hutchins, a cinematographer, on Thursday afternoon. A source claimed that he is now cancelling all other projects.

After being seen walking out of a hotel, the actor, who is 63 years old, was seen hugging Matt and Halyna’s son Andros (9). He was also seen hugging Matt’s and Halynas son Andros.

People magazine was told by a source that “This was pretty devastating.”

“This is how he deals with difficult times. In the short-term, he will remove himself from any situation that is bad. [the]public eye.

Baldwin and Matthew Hutchins escaped a Santa Fe Hotel on Saturday morning with Andros Hutchins’ boy, five days after Baldwin shot Hutchins with a prop pistol that was on the set of Rust, detectives claim.

Hutchins, a 63-year old actor and producer of the film in which he was killed, has since called it a tragic accident.

Fellow crew members say armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed (pictured) was a ‘inexperienced’ and ‘a bit careless with guns’. They claim that the 24-year-old had a history with recklessness when it came to weaponry.

Baldwin posted the following tweet on Friday morning: “There are no words to express my shock and sorrow regarding the tragic accident which claimed the life of Halyna HUTCHINS, a wife.

“I fully cooperate with the police investigation to address this tragedy and I am in touch to her husband, offering my support and assistance to him and his families. My heart breaks for her husband and their son as well as all those who knew and loved Haylna.

Baldwin was spotted after it was revealed that Dave Hall, the assistant director of the movie, had allegedly broken gun safety protocols while he was on set for 2019 Hulu series Into The Dark. According to reports, he ignored a rule which required that all guns, fake or real, be declared on set to ensure safety procedures were followed.

Hall was also accused in shortening gun safety meetings and remarking on the futility of them, given that all other motive sets followed the same procedures.

Meanwhile, the young armorer who was responsible for the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Alec Baldwin new film Rust has been careless with weapons in the past, sources allege.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed (24), was a source who said that she had a history of recklessness with guns.

According to The Daily Beast, ‘She was a bit careless when it came to guns, waving them around every now and then,’ the source said. “There were a few times she loaded the blanks in a way that was unsafe.

Another source said GutierrezReed had loaded a weapon onto the pebble-filled ground, and handed it to Ryan Kiera Armstrong (11 years old), without performing a proper inspection.

“She was reloading her gun on the ground, where there was pebbles and other stuff. We didn’t see her check it. We didn’t know if anything got into the barrel or not,” a source who worked alongside her set of The Old Way by Nicolas Cage said.

The individual stated that The crew waited to film until Gutierrez Reed had double checked the barrel for obstruction.

The gun that killed Halyna HUTCHINS and Alec Baldwin was accidentally fired in his hands by accident, sources claim. Crew members used the off-set target practice to practice with live ammo. Blanks and live ammunition were kept together.

Alec Baldwin was wielding a vintage Colt pistol when it accidentally went off. It is not known who loaded the weapon and why it went off as a replacement crew was brought in the day of the incident (The gun pictured above is a vintage Colt pistol manufactured between 1873-92. While the exact model of the gun used is unknown, Rust is set in the 1880s)

It is not known who loaded the weapon and why it went off as a replacement crew was brought in the day of the incident (The gun pictured above is a vintage Colt pistol manufactured between 1873-92. Although the exact model of gun used is not known, Rust was set in the 1880s.

The gun that killed the cinematographer on the set of Alec Baldwin’s Rust had been used for target practice by crew members, sources linked to the western film’s production said.

Multiple sources connected with the Rust set informed TMZ that crew members used the Colt pistol for recreational purposes.

Sources claim that crew members would practice target shooting with real bullets. Others believe that a live round from practice sessions made it onto the set.

Another source said to TMZ that live ammunition and blanks were stored in the same area as the set. This could be another explanation for how a bullet was fired out of Baldwin’s Colt.

Friday’s search warrant stated that Hannah Gutierrez-Reed (24), Rust armer, had set up three prop guns outside the filming location. Dave Halls, first assistant director, grabbed the Colt and brought it inside. However, he was not aware that it was loaded with live ammunition.

“Cold gun!” Halls shouted “Cold gun!” Before handing the gun to Baldwin. This phrase was used to signal the crew and cast that the gun was safe to be fired for the scene, according the warrant.

Baldwin, who was filming an Old West-style scene in a church, apparently pointed at the camera and pulled the trigger. She accidentally killed Hutchins while filming him and also injured Souza, who stood by her.

Two production sources familiar with Gutierrez Reed’s work said that it wasn’t the first time she had been involved in an incident at a movie set.

Two sources informed The Daily Beast that Hannah Gutierrez–Reed allegedly gave an 11-year old actress a gun, without properly inspecting it, while she was filming The Old Way with Nicholas Cage.

One source said that she loaded the blanks a couple of times and did it in a way that was unsafe.

Sources on the set of Rust said the incident that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins could be tied to the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed

Sources on the set of Rust said the incident that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins could be tied to the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed

“She was a little careless with guns, waving it around every so often.”

Sources on the Rust team have stated that the fatal incident which killed Hutchins, 42 years old, and injured Souza 48 years ago was caused by production problems from top to bottom.

They added that Halls, assistant director, had handed Baldwin the gun and told him it was safe.

One source on set stated that ‘He’s supposed be our last line and he failed us’. “He’s not supposed to be looking at that firearm.”

According to a Rust production source, there have been at least two other instances of guns accidentally being discharged by crew members on set prior to Thursday’s tragic incident.

GutierrezReed was described as “inexperienced, green” by the source.
