Colombian authorities announced Friday that an ISIS terror suspect, who was wanted by Russia, was arrested at Colombia’s airport while waiting to connect to a flight for Guatemala.
Vladimir ‘Ali Ali’ Taranetc arrived at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá on a flight from Istanbul Airport on Thursday and was scheduled to continue on to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, the National Police of Colombia said.
Customs officials discovered Taranetc was flagged in their system by Interpol Red Notice, which was requested by authorities in Naberezhnye Chelny, a west-central Russian city.

Taranetc was an initial member of Jaish Muhajireen wal – Ansar, a terror organisation that was established in Iraq in 2011, and was also involved in terrorist plots that were coordinated from Syria.
Colombian authorities discovered that Taranetc had fled Russia for Turkey in September 2013, before he arrived in Syria. He joined the terrorist organization and shared extremist ideas.
Jaish Muhajireen Wal-Ansar was well-known for using’sabotage techniques through violent acts’ to kill civilians, government officials and law enforcement agents while executing public executions. The terror network was also involved with the trafficking of slaves.

The terror group was disbanded later and Taranetc joined Islamic State.
According to the National Police of Colombia, Vladimir was a foreign fighter. He had a strong arsenal of weapons and ammunition. Russian authorities have confirmed that Taranetc continues to participate and collaborate with the Islamic State.
According to the National Police, Taranetc would be extradited from Russia to face terror charges.
If he is found guilty, he could spend up to 20 years behind bars.
