A houseparty host raped an accountant while she believed she was having sex only with another man. He has now been sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
After a group of friends, including two of Egunbambi’s, had returned to Moston after having spent a night in Manchester, Ibraheem Egunbambi (29), was turned down.
Egunbambi attempted to kiss the woman, but she refused. Instead, he decided to have consensual sexual sex with one his friends. Manchester Crown Court heard.
Egunbambi then raped her in her dark bedroom, while she was facing the wall. He pretended to be a friend that had been having sex.
Quickly she realized it was not her and switched on the light to reveal that Egunbambi was there, whom she had rejected earlier.
The victim fled the scene immediately and called the police.
Egunbambi of Leeds claimed that it was “just a little fun”, but the jury unanimously found him guilty.

After a group of friends, including two of Egunbambi’s buddies, had returned to Moston after having spent a night in Manchester centre, Ibraheem Egunbambi (pictured), 29 was turned down.
Judge Patrick Field, QC said to him that it wasn’t just fun.
“This was an unpleasant, rude and unwelcome violation of a young lady.”
Egunbambi was an economist graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University and sentenced to four-and-a half years in prison for the December 2018 rape.
Egunbambi was with her friend when she met Egunbambi.
However, after they returned to one another’s properties, Egunbambi informed her that she didn’t want to have sex.
Judge: “You were aware that she was not interested in having anything to do with you sexually.”
He added, “While she was facing the wall, you slipped onto her bed behind her.”
You knew that it was vital that she thinks she is still having sexual interaction with him.
After realizing it was Egunbambi, she was shocked and asked him to stop.
“But that didn’t stop your trying to justify your deplorable behavior by saying it was just for fun,” the judge said.
It is clear that the emotional distress she experienced at the time as well as later on was unavoidable.
“That stress can only be made worse by the trauma of having to live through these memories while giving evidence at court, and being called a liar.
Egunbambi was clean of any previous convictions and got an accounting job after graduating. She had previously worked as a support worker with adults who have learning disabilities.
Barry Grennan, his barrister, stated that it was one serious error, which would have dramatic consequences for his life.

Egunbambi was sentenced by Manchester Crown Court to four-and-a–half years. (pictured).
I don’t want to compare myself with others [with the victim].
“He will lose the job and his house, his good character will be lost, but it is only him who has to take responsibility.
Following the hearing Detective Constable Paul Shacklady of GMP’s City of Manchester’s Operation Challenger Unit stated that this was an appalling act.
“Egunbambi did not respect the fact that his victim expressed her disinterest in him at all earlier in the evening, but felt he had the right to violate and rape the victim.
“Hope this sentencing will send a clear message that such behavior will absolutely be not tolerated, and all offenders will have to face the consequences.”
