Man, 53, arrested in connection to murder of pensioner 86, who was found at home with fatal head injuries in north London

After a pensioner sustained a fatal head injury at his home in north London, a 53-year-old man was arrested for murder.

The victim, a man thought to have been aged 86, was declared dead at the scene in Southgate. This was as police began a murder investigation.

Metropolitan Police officers were dispatched to Southgate at 9.40pm Saturday to investigate a disturbance at a property on Chelmsford Road.

The Met reported that the man was treated by London Ambulance Service paramedics.

He was declared dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination will take place in due time.

According to the Met, a 53-year old man was arrested on the spot under suspicion of murder.

It is believed the suspect and the pensioner knew each other.

The police stated that the victim’s next-of-kin have been informed and will receive support from specialist officers.

An investigation is ongoing into a crime scene.
