A mother has given birth to a baby boy weighing more than a stone in Oxfordshire – making him the third biggest newborn in the UK.
Cherral Mitchell, 31, had to have two midwives deliver Alpha before he could leave John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
Alpha was born on Thursday at 38 weeks. He has been nicknamed ‘Baby Hippo’ and ‘Butter Bean’.
He is believed be the UK’s third-biggest child and the largest for eight year.

Alpha is currently being monitored by neonatal nurse but is said to “on the mend”.
The current record holder is 15lb 8oz Guy Carr, born in 1992, followed by 15lb 7oz George King, who was born in Gloucester in 2013.
Surprise! Mrs Mitchell fell pregnant with Alpha, despite having used the contraceptive coil to prevent him from being conceived with her husband, an electrical engineer named Tyson.
Mrs Mitchell, who also has three children, described Alpha to her as a “pumpkin baby”.
She said: ‘ We didn’t think he was going to be that big. Everyone laughed when his head emerged. Tyson, my husband, was astonished that he was so chunky.
“There were two nurses pulling him, one trying to push him down to get out.
“The nurses said it had got to be the largest baby and were looking on their phones for more information.
“He’s a little pumpkin baby, with Halloween so close.
Doctors believe Alpha’s large weight can be attributed to a sweet tooth. They believe he was consuming sugary fluid from his mother while in labor.

The hospital in Oxford had nurses on their phones, searching statistics on the UK’s largest babies after Alpha’s birth.
Doctors believe that Alpha’s weight can be attributed to his mother’s sugary fluid during pregnancy.
At a 37-week scan, he was estimated to weigh around 11lb 1oz. However, he gained more than three pounds before his birth via a C-section a week later.
Mrs Mitchell, a stay at home mom from Oxon, Thame, said: “So he was drinking lots and peeing a lot, and getting a high sugar intake.
‘My stomach was not as large as I thought so I don’t know where it was.
‘I keep saying that I gave my birth to a baby butter beans. Jason, my uncle calls him a baby hippos.
Alpha is Mrs Mitchell’s third son after Lyon, who is three years old. She also has Rogue-Angel, a four-year-old, and Twyla (who is ten months).
However, Alpha is her biggest child, and she describes her other children’s births as normal.
Alpha is currently being monitored by neonatal nurse but is ‘on his mend’.
