Some residents have spoken out about their anger at the landlord’s use of his properties as dump grounds, leaving neighbours trapped in piles of debris.
The shocking images from Romford in east London show piles of garbage at the rear of these houses.
The garden is overflowing with metal and other scraps as well as lawnmowers, kitchen sinks, and even more.
The rubbish, which has been compared to an ‘open sewer’, has slowly been accumulating for two years and residents say it is now beginning to attract rats and other vermin.
Keith Eaton, who owns the two properties, was ordered to pay £4,726 and told to clean up the waste by Havering Council in June but neighbours have said the site is still ‘horrendous’ and he has ‘ignored’ the orders.
Romford residents have spoken out about their anger after the ‘nightmare landlord’ used two of his properties as dump grounds.
Photographs show piles of garbage, which includes chairs, hoovers and washing machines as well as building appliances, sofas and couches at the rear of the property.
Denise Hipson Avery 64, a neighbor, stated that her neighbours, which are located between two infested properties by rats, were going through ‘hell’.
She told The Sun Online: ‘They’re going through hell. It doesn’t seem to be ending.
You couldn’t even live there. The house is actually worse than it was before the court ordered.
According to the resident, the homeowner was responsible for blocking off their garden and causing damage to vehicles.
Another neighbor added that he couldn’t live there because the water isn’t connected to it and it was full of rubbish.
The council took the power of Section 215 in the Town and Country Planning Act (1990), to direct Mr Eaton that he clean up the mess from his back and front gardens.
This rubbish includes metal scraps, lawnmowers and kitchen sinks. It has also been described as an open sewer.
According to neighbors, the garbage has been slowly building up for 2 years. Now it seems that rats are beginning to take over.
He also had to trim the excess vegetation that was covering his garden.
But neighbours have said the homeowner ‘refuses to clean up’ and it was ‘not fair on the rest of them’.
According to The Sun, the Havering Council has now stated that they will take further actions against Mr Eaton.
Damian White (leader of the council) stated that Mr Eaton was given a reasonable and fair amount time to comply with the order and that the council was ready for more prosecutions.
