As Twitter users testified, you can become a teenager by entering your parent’s front door at Christmas, regardless of how old you may be.
People in their middle years have been sharing stories of being told off, from not loading the dishwasher correctly to swearing excessively and encouraging the cat.
There were lots of stories about Christmas reprimands after @j_o_n_a_than posted what he was told off since he spent the holiday with his parents.
This included turning off taps too fast, putting too much pressure on the toilet and eating the Christmas Day cheese.
That video clip prompted a response from Luke Martingell’s mum. Luke was shown eating Camembert she had kept for Christmas 25th.

His mother is clearly furious and slams her son for eating Camembert on Christmas Day.

Luke’s mother, dressed in a dressing gown and revealing her anger at her son for eating cheese, opens the door. She tells him: ‘It’s f****** food for Christmas Day.’

Martingell’s mom, seen in grey dress and furious, says on camera: “What’ve you done with Christmas cheese?”
Her son replies: ‘I had Camembert’ to which his mum, now even more livid, responds: ‘It’s f****** food for Christmas Day.’
A clip of the Christmas Eve video has received nearly 40,000.

@mrsromaine also added: “Having to open the windows and squeeze the water out afterward really takes away the enjoyment of taking a hot shower.” So I don’t stay long enough to need one.’

Luke’s video has seen dozens of people sharing their own Christmas tellings off – including ‘turning taps off too quickly’ and not boiling the kettle correctly

@ReallyNineLives posted: ‘How hard can you flush the toilet? Or do you turn off the taps way too fast? I swear parents just make s*** up to complain about sometimes. But, I would encourage my cat to do more.
@JulianJohnPhot1 shared: ‘In my parents house, there are things you can eat, things you can’t eat and things that can only be eaten at certain times, unfortunately they are not labeled so quite often we get told off for eating things and for not eating things, it’s like Russian roulette with snacks.’
@PeteBrooksy added: ‘For pity’s sake don’t leave crockery, glasses, or cutlery anywhere near the dishwasher without actually putting them in. Despite the fact, that if you do put them in, you’ll put them in the wrong tray/wrong way up/couldn’t you see everything else was clean in there?’

One grown-up kid, @MKCol, tweeted his opinion about how his mom likes to boil the kettle
@GCCampbell5 wrote: ‘For me:
Leave the potatoes bag for Christmas Day in direct sunlight. They might turn green.
– Dropping a piece on the ground
– Not washing the eggshells before binning them else they’ll attract vermin
Use a bowl for flour, not a pan.

@Fallenangel1278 felt the same, saying: ‘This has let me know I’m not on my own. I am currently waiting for my mother to arrive and trying out the next year’s criticisms. I am 56 with grown up kids and two grandkids, feel like I’m waiting for a visit from the queen! It’s going going to be a long week!’
One mum joined in the thread, saying: You’ve not been to my house. The thermostat is set at 16 until the children turn blue. If that happens, I will allow 17. Is this why blankets were made?
