In the UK, nearly 200 cases of drink spiking were reported in the past 2 months to the police.
According to the National Police chiefs’ council (NPCC), there are 198 reported cases of drink spiking that were confirmed in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Additionally, 24 injections have been documented.
Friday afternoon’s NPCC report indicated that around 140 people had reported drink spiking. But, more data has since led to the revision of this estimate.
Although the majority of the cases were female, it stated that the total number covered both men and ladies.
Indicted offences were committed at private and licensed establishments.
The 198 number is based upon data collected from 40 police departments. However, the NPCC indicated that five additional forces are still being provided data and would like to do so over the weekend.
London: There are 58 reported cases of drink-spiking
According to the NPCC 58 of the 198 cases of drink spiking reported by Metropolitan Police.
Jason Harwin, Deputy Chief Constabulary at the NPCC, stated that these reports were very alarming.
“We work at pace with law enforcement agencies like the NCA, forces and universities to understand and establish the extent of the offending and to link the accusations to bring the offenders to justice.
Nottingham: 32 reports of spiked drinks and 15 of spiking involving needles in recent weeks
In connection to a series of incidents in Nottingham that involved needles, three men were arrested for conspiring in the administration of poison.
Nottinghamshire Police reported that two males aged 18-19 were detained after being contacted by a member the public. The information was received on Wednesday following an appeal from a senior officer for help.
Both were placed under police custody after being arrested on suspicion of conspiring with poison to injure.
These arrests do not relate to any particular allegation about spiking with a needle or contamination of drinks.
According to the update, both of these men were freed under an investigation.
Nottinghamshire Police announced that they will send more officers so people can have a safe night.
Following three instances of injections of heroin by women at two clubs in the area within the past fortnight, a man aged 20 was taken into custody on suspicion of drug offenses.
Police Scotland: There have been nine reports about spiking, with eight by injection.
Police Scotland spokeswoman said that they were aware of social media posts about injections in Scotland.
“Officers are conducting inquiries, and there are a few reports from the Edinburgh and Dundee areas.
These do not seem to be related.
“We treat all complaints seriously, and encourage anybody who suspects they were victims of spiking to call 101.
Police West Midlands One report of a woman being ‘spiked by injection’
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: ‘We’re aware of posts circulating on social media about drink spiking, particularly those involving injections.
‘At present we’ve had one report where the circumstances appear to match the description of someone being spiked by injection. However, it’s unclear exactly what’s happened and we’re in the process of trying to speak to the woman to gather more information.
‘A separate drink spiking incident involving a Birmingham-based university student is under investigation, and we’ve had a small number of reports from Birmingham city centre over the last few months.’
Merseyside Police: Number of spiking incidents, five of which specifically relate to injection spiking
Detectives said that out of the five reports, three currently remain under investigation, including the incident onOctober 19.

“Officers must be aware that anyone may be at risk in order to address any immediate safety concerns.”
South Wales Police: A’small number’ of Reports
Georgia Latham had reported that her drink was spiked. South Wales Police spokesman said, “We received some reports from people who believed this could have happened and they are now under investigation.”
“Our officers work with licensed establishments to alert them about spiking methods, and ask them to be more vigilant during this time.
“We are open to all information and welcome any victim of spiking.
