Hundreds of passengers are evacuated from London’s Kings Cross station as armed police race to reports a man boarded a train carrying a suspicious package: One person is arrested and incident ‘not though to be terror’

Passengers were tonight evacuated from King’s Cross Station in London as swarms of police descended on the scene following a report of a man with a suspicious package. 

Photos shared online showed hundreds of passengers waiting at the station for the 8PM evacuation.

Metropolitan Police stated that a suspect had boarded the train with an ‘insuspicious parcel’. The train was then evacuated for safety reasons. 

Police said that the man was taken into custody on suspicion of an offence against public order, but not as terrorist-related. 

One passenger wrote online: ‘Armed police stormed kings cross. The police dogs also entered the building just now. Kings cross evacuated.’ 

MailOnline was informed by a spokesperson for Metropolitan Police that they were summoned to Kings Cross Railway Station on Wednesday 8th December at 19.53 to investigate reports about a suspect package.

‘Officers attended. He had already boarded the train and was evacuated for safety. 

“The suspect was then taken off the train, and he was charged with public order offenses. As a precaution, a search was conducted on the train. A few platforms were evacuated.

“The incident is being not treated as terrorist-related at the moment.”
