After spending a week in hospital, on advice from royal doctors, the Queen is now fully committed to hosting Christmas at Sandringham. 

Last week, Her Majesty underwent medical tests and spent a night at London´s King Edward VII´s Hospital, her first such stay in in eight years and she has cancelled all working visits for the next two weeks. 

The 95-year-old, who used a walking stick for the first time during two royal visits this month, is currently recovering at Windsor Castle but is keen to make a speedy recovery in time for the holiday. 

After a year of cancelled engagements because of the pandemic, the monarch believes that hosting a party at her Norfolk home will be a ‘perfect tonic’.

Mirror was told by a royal insider that Her Majesty is very important to be surrounded and loved by her family.

“The Queen is completely committed to hosting everyone as it is her hope to make it back to full-health in the coming weeks.  

“After being forced by a host engagements to cancel, the family get-together will prove to be the perfect tonic.” 

This will be the Queen’s first Christmas since Prince Philip’s death in April. An insider said that the Queen will enjoy the family get-together after having to cancel many engagements because of the pandemic.

Boris Johnson yesterday said that the Queen was “on very good form” during their weekly conversation earlier in the week. 

Johnson said that she spoke to Her Majesty every week as part of her job, and that she was in very good form. Johnson spoke to ITV News at the Group of 20 summit held in Rome. 

The prime minister meets with the queen every week. The most recent was virtually on Wednesday.

The Queen used a walking stick twice this month before being advised to rest

Before being advised to rest, Queen Elizabeth II used a walking sticks twice in this month.

Johnson stated that Johnson had been told by her doctors that she must rest. Johnson agreed and said that everyone wished her the best. 

The Queen continues to work after her hospital visit. She will continue with desk-based duties.

During her rest period she will be unable to attend the U.N. climate summit, which begins on Sunday in Glasgow, Scotland. However, she has recorded a message for attendees. 

She will also miss the Nov. 13 Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall, which is an event to honor British and Commonwealth women and men who have fought in wars, disasters, and pandemics to defend and protect the nation.

However, the palace said it is the queen´s ‘firm intention’ to be present for a Remembrance Sunday ceremony in central London on Nov. 14.

Since her last public appearance two weeks ago, The Queen has only performed virtual engagements. Yesterday, she presented the Queen’s Gold Medal in Poetry to David Constantine, an English poet, who was at Buckingham Palace.  

Buckingham Palace stated in a statement earlier this year: ‘Following their recent advice for the Queen to rest for a couple of days, Her Majesty’s physicians have advised that she should continue resting for at least the next 2 weeks.

‘The doctors have advised Her Majesty that she can continue to do light, desk-based duties during the time, including some virtual audiences. [the receiving of ambassadors]You are welcome to, but not required to make any official visits.

“Her Majesty regrets that she will not be able attend the Festival of Remembrance, Saturday November 13.

“However, it remains the Queen’s firm intent to be present at the National Service of Remembrance, on Remembrance Sunday on November 14.”
