Tonight, Queen Letizia stole show in an audience full of elite athletes with her simple but stylish look. 

At the Spanish Olympic Committee’s annual gala in Madrid, Queen Felipe VI of Spain, 49, wore a top with no sleeves. 

A smart casual style was created by the mother-of-two, who paired the Nina Ricci matching skirt and top with thoughtfully chosen jewellery. 

After the Tokyo Olympics were delayed due to Covid-19, this diner will reflect on Spain’s achievements at the Olympics. 

Spanish athletes won 17 medals in the international sport competition. They also received three gold and eight silver medals.

The Senegal trip was the last international engagement for Her Majesty for 2021, who will soon take a Winter break with her family.  

Letizia first met Felipe VI in 2002 at a dinner party. They quickly became friends, which led to the royal wedding that took place in May 2004.  

The former newsreader is the granddaughter of a taxi driver and the eldest daughter of Jesús José Ortiz Álvarez, a journalist, and first wife María de la Paloma Rocasolano Rodríguez, a nurse and hospital union representative.

After graduating from high school, she attended a public university and earned a bachelor’s degree at Complutense University of Madrid. An MA in Audiovisual Journalism was awarded to her by the Institute for Studies in Audiovisual Journalism.

In 2014, King Juan Carlos abdicated to King Felipe VI.
