Royal biographer David Greenslade has criticized The Crown’s casting of Roy Greenslade’s stepdaughter in the role as Countess Mountbatten.
Penny Junor claimed that Natascha MacElhone 51 was not responsible for the “sins” of her stepfather.
However, she stated that another actress would have been considered due to the delicate nature of her role.
Penny Junor is a royal biographer who said Natascha MacElhone (51), was not responsible for the alleged’sins her stepfather committed’. This revelation came after he revealed that he supports the IRA. Because of the delicate nature of her role, she suggested that another actress be considered.
Greenslade was an ex-editor of Fleet Street and he expressed support for the IRA in early this year.
An IRA bomb killed Lord Mountbatten in 1979. His grandson, Penelope Knatchbull (Miss McElhone) was married to Penelope Knatchbull.
Miss Junor told The Daily Telegraph: ‘I think it shows a lack of respect.
“Of course you can’t visit the sins on the daughters of the father, but there are many actresses.
“It feels slightly like two fingers.”
In 1979, Lord Mountbatten was shot to death by an IRA bomb. Penelope Knatchbull was his granddaughter.
After the IRA placed a bomb aboard a fishing boat in County Sligo, Lord Mountbatten and Nicholas Knatchbull (his 14-year old grandson) were killed.
Paul Maxwell (15-year-old crew member) was also shot.
Ms Junor stated that The Crown’s latest series, which will be released next November, “will raise eyebrows in many ways” due to its coverage of “recent history”, including the breakup of the Princess and Prince of Wales’s marriage.
