After an elderly couple was found murdered at their North Yorkshire home, a double murder investigation was launched and the son of that pair has been taken into custody.
On Tuesday, 21 December 2021 at 7.30am, officers were dispatched to a residence in Regent Crescent Skipton.
Police located two bodies in the home: one in the 60s, and another in the 70s.
On the spot, a man of 35 years, the father of the victim, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

He is currently being held in police custody. At this point, no other suspects are wanted in relation to the death.
Steve Menzies (Senior Investigating Officer, Major Investigation Team) said that the tragic incident will shock local residents.
“Although we are still in the early stages of the investigation, one man was arrested and we don’t currently have any other leads into the deaths.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team has officers who conduct patrols to reassure residents. Anybody with questions can contact them.
“I would also like to ask any person with relevant information about our inquiries to contact me.”

North Yorkshire Police stated that they do not want anyone to be found in the case of deaths.
Family liaison officers from the police are available to support those who are affected and are requested to keep their identities private.
