SZA tweeted her shock following a fatal incident at Travis Scott’s Astroworld event.
The 31-year-old singer–songwriter wrote that she was left ‘speechless’ and that she was ‘praying’ for those affected after at least eight people died and hundreds more were injured at the Houston festival during an apparent crowd surge.
The singer (born Solána Imani Rowe) had performed at the festival just hours before Scott’s headlining set when the chaotic scene took place.

‘Speechless about last night I’m actually in shock n don’t even know what to say,’ SZA tweeted. Prayers for Houston and the families of the victims.
She posted an image of her receiving intravenous drips earlier in Friday.
‘Houston I no feel so good but thank you for having meeee sorry I didn’t kick it w the crowd tnt,’ she wrote after her set.
A follow up tweet by her stated that she’d had a “bug” but added that Covid-19 test results were negative.

SZA later shared via Twitter on Saturday that she still planned to make her Austin concert on Saturday night, even though she is still sick.
“I try my best!” Before visiting the doctor, she said that she wanted to give her best.
Also, she shared her gratitude and retweeted the photo of people waiting outside to see her perform.
Her condition appeared to be worsening and it wasn’t clear if she could make the show.
‘Okay … it’s official I have a fever over 100 and I’m covid negative (took another test today),’ she tweeted. ‘Whatever it is I don’t wanna get y’all sick !! I love y’all too much. I was feeling better this morning but it’s kicking my a** rn. I’m so sorry Austin.’

Eight people died in apparent crowd rushes during Travis Scott’s highly publicized set at Astroworld.
The victims included two minors, one was as young as 14 years old. Officials from the city said this at a conference that took place on Saturday.
Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña said that the surge of concertgoers ’caused some panic, and it started causing some injuries.’
Around 50,000 people filled the packed space at that time.

It was all part of the fun: Travis Scott, Rapper continued his set at Astroworld for 75 minutes on Friday as 8 people died and many were injured during a surge in crowds.
Scott wept after the tragedy. He posted on Twitter on Friday that he was devastated.
While offering his prayers to the families of victims, he also pledged his support to the Houston Police Department.
In an attempt to document the chaotic scene, crowd members shared video and pictures of CPR being administered by medics. Others were also seen bleeding.
Scott stopped briefly during one fan’s medical treatment, but continued his performance afterward.
A source told Page Six that the rapper ‘didn’t realize what was going on’ from his vantage, and ‘when he did he stopped the concert.’
‘He’s really upset — he had no idea what was going on, he was on stage performing,’ they added. ‘He’s beside himself, I’ve never heard him like that. He was almost in tears.
Astroworld’s Saturday lineup has been cancelled.
