He’s just sold one club but Newcastle United’s former owner Mike Ashley has joined another – exclusive London nightspot Annabel’s. It’s not easy to pass the high-society haunt’s rigorous vetting process, but perhaps Mike’s glamorous daughters Anna and Matilda helped swing the deal.
A source close to Ashley, who sold Newcastle to a Saudi-led consortium for £305 million, tells me the girls are now regulars at the Mayfair venue.
Mike will be able to enjoy events like last week’s £300-a-head feast with a menu inspired by the art of Damien Hirst.
We hope that there won’t be another repeat of the incident when Sports Direct boss Mike drank 12 pints at an event before vomiting. Then again, if Damien’s pickled shark is on the menu…

A new BBC series chronicles the power struggle between Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and their time as government officials.
It seems that old habits can be hard to break. The former Chancellor apparently took offense at the fact that the documentary was going to be called New Labour.
It was then changed to Blair & Brown: The New Labour Revolution.
I’m told Brown felt that otherwise the whole programme would feel like the ‘Tony Show’ – and we all know how much he hates it when Blair gets too much credit! The BBC confirmed that it had changed the ‘working title’.

Artist Jesse, 18, has inherited TV adventurer dad Bear’s daredevil spirit – he leaps from bridges with parachute hooks pierced into the skin of his back!
Girlfriend India, also 18, has signed to Storm Models and is a fixture on the social scene.
They were labelled the coolest couple at a swanky 18th party at Annabel’s last week.
