Belfast Crown Court heard he exposed himself while sitting in his mother’s blue BMW Z4 car.

He claimed that he was playing a miniature guitar and not performing sex acts in his mother’s sportscar.

This claim was rejected by the jury.

On Tuesday, a 16-year-old girl testified in court that she saw the sports car and noticed the man as she walked past it in St Jude’s Parade in south Belfast.

She stated that ‘His seat was completely rolled up and I could see his bottom, which was naked.

“He was wearing his pants down and was rubbing his penis.”

Anderson’s barrister suggested that Anderson had ‘put 2 and 2 together and come up 6’ when she was cross-examined.

The teenager resisted this idea.

“I saw his hand and he was in front of me.” [performing a sex act].

“I know I saw that.”

Anderson said he was parking on the Parade in hopes of meeting a friend, who was practicing for a Lyric Theatre performance.

He claimed that he was sitting in the car talking to friends, then he got out and smoked a cigarette. Then he got back in to play the Baby Taylor guitar he had borrowed from the boot.

According to the 31-year-old, playing mini guitar would have produced a sex act that was’similar’ to the sex act.

He said: ‘The bottom line is that I know for a fact I was not exposed and I was not [performing a sex act]That day, I was in my mother’s car.

Anderson answered questions about the possible sightings of the girl. He said that he had a hair bobble, which he wrapped around his thumb to hide his longer hair.

He said, “I believe the bobble around my thumb would have made top of my thumb redder colour, and that’s what could’ve been mistaken for penis.”

The 31-year-old was handed a three-year suspended sentence after admitting secretly recording 11 women over an eight-year period from 2005 to 2013. Anderson said these offences happened when he was immature, saying they were 'selfish mistakes'.

The schoolgirl claimed that the ordeal made her feel worried and uncomfortable’. She returned home to tell her mother what she had seen after leaving behind her friends at a bus stop.

Her mother drove to St Jude’s Parade and took a photo of the BMW. It was still parked nearby. She then informed the police.
