A senior officer in the police force who is leading an investigation into the lockdown-breaking events at Downing Street had been involved in a dispute over the policing for the Sarah Everard Vigil.
Jane Connors has been appointed Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police to investigate the alleged Lockdowns in Downing Street or Whitehall.
Scotland Yard spokesperson said that the Special Enquiry Team would lead investigations. DAC Jane Connors is the Met’s Covid Lead Officer and will be overseeing the investigation.
The announcement comes as Scotland Yard chief Dame Cressida Dick announced that the force would probe the alleged lockdown breaches after being provided evidence by Sue Gray’s civil service inquiry.
Boris Johnson, Prime Minster, denied that he had broken the law. But the probe reached new heights with police questioning staff rather than official officials.

Jane Connors (Deputy Assistant Commissioner), the Metropolitan Police’s Covid-19 lead, was appointed to investigate the alleged Lockdown violations in Downing Street
Initial signs indicated that Ms Gray would not be subject to the scrutiny of Mr Johnson.
After hours of negotiation, the Cabinet Office indicated that certain parts of the report which were not under police scrutiny could be soon released.
It is now clear that these results may be released in their entirety soon after the Met stated its acceptance.
Jane Connors was the lead investigator for the Metropolitan Police Service. She joined in 1993 and was a member of the Metropolitan Police Service.
After officers had been seen pushing people down and using strong-handed tactics, the Met Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick was subject to heavy criticism.

Crowds began to shout ‘arrest you own’,’shame onto you’ during the violent vigil.
After the scene, DAC Connors stated that while she understands why people need to voice their opinions, the force needed to ‘take some enforcement actions as the night progressed.
She said: ‘Whilst I understand why people feel the need to express their views at this time, we must remember that we are still in the middle of a pandemic, and that there is the constant risk of transmitting the coronavirus.
“Our officers were out again on the streets with the primary purpose of trying to make sure people are safe during this crisis.
“Despite people following the officers’ directions to leave the area to go home, it was necessary to enforce the order as the evening went on.

As people lay flowers or tributes onto the ground during a Clapham Common vigil, police officers are on guard.

Last year, the police force was criticised after officers were observed using brutal tactics against people attending the vigil.

Officers responding to thousands of people trying to invade Wembley Stadium’s Wembley Stadium on July 31, last year, were called upon by police.
Her comments came as police federation chief Ken Marsh defended the actions of officers at the vigil and claimed the event had been ‘hijacked’ by Antifa, Black Lives Matter and Extinction Rebellion protesters.
After a storm of fans invaded Wembley Stadium at the Euros, last July’s deputy assistant commissioner rejected any claims that the Met had failed.
She said in a statement: “I don’t accept that the police operation failed, and I stand by the difficult decisions made both by officers of the Met and their public order commanders.
“It is possible this game could have been stopped if they didn’t intervene immediately.”
She said, “I’m certain that they swiftly prevented any further escalation.”
According to the senior officer, she also stated that she shared the anger of the nation at the conduct outside the stadium. She reiterated her commitment towards identifying those responsible’.
DAC Connors said: ‘Throughout this day, officers observed disgraceful behavior both at Wembley and in central London.
I share anger with this conduct. It is important to remind the Met that they will be tracing those who were responsible for this scene in Wembley as well as in central London. Their actions will result in consequences.
After thousands of supporters attempted to storm England’s national stadium in advance of the Euro 2020 final, police and security personnel were under severe fire.
DAC Connors was the also the officer responsible for officers being filmed raving in London with eco activists last year.
DAC Connors stated that he was disappointed at the video and the inexcusable behavior of the officers.
“We expect our officers engage with protestors, but their actions clearly fall short of what we would like to see in a policing operation.”
“We will be reminding the officers of their responsibilities, expectations, and how to police this operation. The majority of officers worked hard and I am thankful for their dedication.

Today, the PM’s spokesperson insisted that he would cooperate fully if asked about claims of lockdown-breaking gatherings at No10.
A number of Tory rebels were outnumbered by MPs who supported the prime minister in the Chamber today. They called the allegations’vexatious and asked why Keir Sterner wasn’t being investigated.
Dame Cressida, during a London Assembly hearing, pointed out that police are not allowed to examine historical lockdown allegations unless they have clear evidence or a defense.
She stated that she had a good working relationship with Cabinet Office. They have an investigative capacity.
“As they well know, they have been doing an investigation in the last few days.
“What can I tell you is that I have received information from the Cabinet Office inquiry group and my own officers’ assessments, which has led me to confirm that the Met is currently investigating potential violations of Covid-19 regulations.
