Antonio Conte has been confirmed as the new Tottenham manager.
MailOnline exclusively reported yesterday morning that Nuno Esposito Sante was fired as Spurs head coach. The club confirmed the Portuguese’s departure shortly before 10 AM.
Fabio Paratici, the club’s increasingly influential director for football, quickly identified Nuno’s replacement and signed a contract with Conte until 2023 with an option of extension. He has already met with the players, as attention quickly turns towards Thursday’s Europa Conference League clash against Vitesse.
Conte stated, “I am extremely happy that I have returned to coaching, and to do it at a Premier League club with the ambition to become a protagonist again.”
‘Tottenham Hotspur is home to state-of-the art facilities and one of best stadiums in the entire world. I cannot wait to get started on conveying to the team and fans the passion, mentality, and determination that have always distinguished myself as a player as well as a coach.
‘Last summer our union did not happen because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too involved with the end of the season, so I felt that it wasn’t yet the right time to return to coaching.
“But Daniel Levy’s infectious enthusiasm and determination to trust me with this task had already made an impact. I am now more confident than ever as the opportunity presents itself.
Antonio Conte will be confirmed as Tottenham’s new manager, and the Italian will likely be in charge of training on Tuesday.
The Italian will arrive at Club in 24 hours, just 24 hours after Nuno Espirito Santato was fired.
It is understood Conte, who has a long-term relationship with Paratici, has agreed a contract with a pro-rata salary of around £13million.
Tottenham were optimistic Monday afternoon that Conte would be their next Manager, with one well-placed source saying the deal was final.
Players were told that they could expect the new manager to be present to take part in this morning’s training session at Enfield Headquarters.
And his arrival was rubber stamped late Monday night.
When he was Chelsea manager, Conte won the Premier League title in 2017.
Conte was promoted to his final position and Inter Milan won Serie A glory.
Spurs had been close to Conte joining them in the summer, but Conte decided to stay away from the role due to concerns over the club’s ambitions.
Conte’s appointment is a major win for the club, given his status as one of the world’s top coaches.
He is closely linked to replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is currently under fire at Manchester United.

The 52-year-old’s track records of success will be a source of great optimism for fans who are fed up at the direction the club has taken.
Sportsmail reported that Nuno was near the end of his rope after the humiliating defeat to United and his performance in the 3-0 loss on Saturday. It was the game that sealed Nuno’s fate.
Sportsmail Understands Nuno arrived at Enfield’s training ground yesterday morning as usual, only to be informed by the club that he was being removed.
Nuno is understood to have earned in the region of £3million a year at Spurs and is now due compensation, but he is expected to be placed on gardening leave until he finds a new job.
Paratici stated: “I know how Nuno and his coaching staff want to succeed, and I regret that this decision has to be made.”
“Nuno is a gentleman and will always be welcomed here. We thank him for his coaching staff, and wish them well in the future.
