Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President was able to meet with President Joe Biden at Monday’s royal reception in Glasgow, Scotland to discuss the conflict between eastern Ukraine and western Ukraine.

The Russian military has been re-established at the border with Ukraine, raising concerns about Moscow’s intentions in the region.

Zelensky tweeted an image showing the two leaders together at this event.

Biden did not list their meeting and neither did officials publish a report of what was discussed. This suggests that the Ukrainian leader was able to corner the U.S. president at the event at a Glasgow gallery of art.

“During a conversation in Glasgow with @POTUS, the security situation was discussed,” he stated. He was referring to a region in which Ukrainian troops are fighting Russian-backed separatists.

“U.S. “U.S. Continues to Support Territorial Integrity and Reforms in Ukraine.”

Since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea, Washington has been a vital ally to Minsk. This has triggered conflict between separatists and Ukrainian troops.

Similar buildups were not repeated in the past.

Despite Russian President Vladimir Putin not attending the COP26 global summit on climate change, Zelensky had the president’s ear – at most for a few moments.

A senior official in the administration confirmed their conversation.

‘I can confirm they spoke at the reception last night and President Biden reaffirmed our longstanding support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,’ the official told DailyMail.com.

Biden’s national safety adviser stated that the U.S. had been monitoring tensions on his journey to Glasgow.

We had the opportunity to consult over this past weekend with key allies and partners on the issue of Ukraine and ensuring that we’re defending Ukraine’s — or supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,’ Jake Sullivan told reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday.

“We’ll continue to watch the situation closely.”

Zelensky was able to take his chance as Biden, along with other leaders, closed the summit’s first-day at a reception hosted Prince Charles.

Biden was seen laughing alongside Prince William, and placed a hand onto his shoulder at the Kelvingrove Gallery and Museum event, which took place just a few minutes from the summit site.

The Duchess of Cambridge was also seen arriving at the event along with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

He looked more energetic than he did earlier in the morning when he was captured resting his eyes during opening session of the UN-sponsored global climate summit.

After flying in from Rome to attend the G20, the 78 year-old president seemed to be dozing off as one speaker stressed the importance of climate action. He opened his eyes to see a friend approaching him and he seemed to feel more awake when he spoke to them.

“Earn history a place” The Queen’s full speech at COP26 to world leaders

“Thank you, Prime Minister Holness for your kind words of introduction. I am delighted to greet you all at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference. It is fitting that you have come together here in Glasgow, once the heartland for the industrial revolution but now a place to address climate changes.

“This is a duty that I am happy to perform, since the impact of the environment upon human progress was a topic close to my heart, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

‘I remember well that in 1969, he told an academic gathering: ‘If the world pollution situation is not critical at the moment, it is as certain as anything can be, that the situation will become increasingly intolerable within a very short time … If we fail to cope with this challenge, all the other problems will pale into insignificance.’

‘It is a source of great pride to me that the leading role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet, lives on through the work of our eldest son Charles and his eldest son William. I couldn’t be prouder of them. Indeed, I have drawn great comfort and inspiration from the relentless enthusiasm of people of all ages – especially the young – in calling for everyone to play their part.

“In the coming days the world has the opportunity of joining in the shared goal of creating safer, more stable futures for our people and the planet upon which they depend.

“None of our team underestimates the challenges ahead. But history has shown us that there is always hope when nations unite in common cause. We can overcome the most difficult problems and triumph over all adversities if we work side-by-side.

‘For more than seventy years, I have been lucky to meet and to know many of the world’s great leaders. I’ve perhaps also come to appreciate a bit about their unique qualities.

“It has been observed that leaders sometimes do more for their people than politics and government. But what they do for the people of tomorrow — that is statesmanship. I hope this conference will be one such rare occasion where everyone can rise above politics and achieve true statesmanship.

‘It is the hope of many that the legacy of this summit – written in history books yet to be printed – will describe you as the leaders who did not pass up the opportunity; and that you answered the call of those future generations. This conference was a gathering of nations that left with a determination, a desire and a plan to address the climate change impact. It was also a reminder that it is no longer a time for words.

‘Officially, the benefits of such actions won’t be there for all of us today: none of us will ever live forever. We are doing this not for our own benefit, but for our children and their children, and for those who will follow them. I wish you every success in this important undertaking.

Biden then sat up straight and rubbed his eyes while Italy’s prime minster took the stage. It was just hours after his G20 conference on Sunday night. Biden reverted to a preapproved list of reporters to answer any questions. This led to further attacks from critics who doubted his fitness for the presidency.

Biden arrived shortly after his first day at climate summit. There, he apologized for the decision of his predecessor Donald Trump to pull the United States out the Paris Climate Accord. Biden also promised that the U.S. would increase their financial stake in fighting climate changes, arguing that the biggest producers should be the biggest investors in the solution.

The Queen was originally meant to host the event, but she opted not to on advice from doctors.  In a taped address, she encouraged world leaders to ‘earn place in history’ as well as ‘answer the call for those future generations’.

Her Majesty, 95,  told leaders ‘to rise above the politics of the moment, and achieve true statesmanship.’

She continued by saying that “none of us will ever live forever” and that “we are doing it not for ourselves, but for our children, our children’s kids, and those who will follow their footsteps”. As she urged leaders to make decisive COP climate deal.

In her most intimate speech ever, the monarch paid tribute to Prince Philip. She described how ‘he was a great man.Her ‘dear husband’, who was deeply concerned about the impact of the environment upon human progress, said in 1969 that ‘if we fail in this challenge, all the other issues will become insignificance’.

He stayed almost an hour. He even took selfies of his fans.

Kate Middleton looked stunning in a blue coat dress with navy heels and walked alongside Prince William in a smart suit at the arrival.

The Duchess wore her hair down in a low bun for tonight’s ceremony. She was accompanied by Prince Charles, Camilla and Duchess of Cornwall, as well as key members from the Royal Family. Sustainable Markets Initiative, the Winners and Finalists for the first Earthshot Prize Awards.

Her custom dress was from Eponine’s SS20 collection. It is made from a double wool crepe material. The price is available upon application. Similar dresses cost about $3,278.

Camilla, 74 years old, chose a teal Bruce Oldfield with buttons from another outfit.

William and Kate’s appearance comes just hours after royal couple, both 39, visited Alexandra Park Sports Hub in Dennistoun to meet with Scouts from and learn more about the group’s’ #PromiseToThePlanet campaign.

The event marks the first engagement for the couple since they arrived in the Scottish city for the COP26 conference which has brought world leaders together to discuss urgent action on climate change.

Earlier on Monday, Biden delivered his plans for cutting carbon emissions with a dose of hot air on Monday, as organizers of a global climate summit ‘gonged’ him for blasting past his allotted three minutes.

The famously talkative president advocated for a green economy, saying that the U.S. would set an example.

He ignored the warnings and said that the “eyes of history” were watching the delegates. He then presented a detailed plan for reducing emissions on the way to a net zero carbon economy by 2020.

It will be a demonstration to the world that the United States, he stated, “not only is back at the table but hopefully leading by our example.”

“I know it hasn’t been the case. My administration is working overtime so that the Climate Commitment is not just words but action.

Organizers instructed world leaders to limit their speeches at three minutes each by the organizers.

Transgressors were reminded about the limit by a gong that rang every minute until their time was up.

Biden heard it eight times.

The warning didn’t make any difference, and he left after 11 minutes.

Minutes later, he repeated the same feat in a side-meeting. He spoke for eight minutes, despite being told by participants to stick to two.

The British Prime Minister came to Biden’s rescue, claiming that he had not been present in the room when instructions were given.

He stated, “Everyone will understand the immense importance of the United States in helping to the world take action and show solidarity.”

“I believe that it was worth allowing the rules to be bent because of that reason alone.”

Officials from the Administration have made it clear that U.S. leadership will be the theme of their six day trip to Europe.

They don’t say it explicitly, but they want to draw a distinction between the Trump years and an ‘America First’ outlook.
