Dame Joan Collins labels William Shatner a fool while criticizing his epic space mission in Saturday’s episode of The Jonathan Ross Show.
Shatner, 90, made history earlier this month when he became the oldest man to meet space after rocketing up into the atmosphere in one of Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin vessels.
But Joan, 88, is seemingly unamused by William’s mission as she tells Jonathan: ‘Let’s take care of this planet first before we start going off’.
Unimpressed: Dame Joan Collins brands William Shatner ‘a fool’ while criticising his epic space mission in Saturday’s upcoming episode of The Jonathan Ross Show
The actress, who appears alongside Rob Beckett, Alex Scott, and Brian Cox on the show, adds: “Who would like to do that?” Absolutely not! Did you see Bill Shatner in action? He was in the air, and they were turning his upside down.
Succession star Cox (75), agrees with Collins’ sentiment. He was asked if he would go into space and he replied, ‘No, absolutely no. It’s ridiculous.
The actor continues, “I remember watching.” [Sir Richard]Branson and [Jeff] Bezos going up for their 11 minutes or whatever… No, we do not need more spaceships, we’ve got enough crap flying around up there, we do not need any more.’

Thinking of the planet: But Joan, 88, is seemingly unamused by William’s mission as she tells Jonathan: ‘Let’s take care of this planet first before we start going off’
Great minds: Echoing Collins’ sentiment, Succession star Brian Cox, 75, adds after being asked whether he would venture into space: ‘No, absolutely not. It’s absurd.
Beckett (35-year-old comedian) offers a different perspective and says she would be open to it.
The funnyman says, “I’m up for that actually.” It’d be a great laugh for an entire afternoon.
‘I get that we probably shouldn’t… but it’s a lot of travelling just to get to the place where it takes off. I’ve got to do a long haul flight… if he was taking off near my house, I’d go.’
I’ll go! Rob Beckett, a comedian aged 35, offers a different perspective. He says he would be open to it.
Glamorous guest – Also appearing on Saturday’s program will be the very glamorous Alex Scott
Host with most: Jonathan Ross will be quizzing the A-listers (pictured alongside Saturday’s musical guest Duran Duran).
Beckett will say, “I wouldn’t travel for that, I don’t think.” Is that lazy?
Collins’ comments echo Prince William’s about space travel after Shatner’s mission. He said that ‘We need some world’s greatest minds and brains focused on trying to repair the planet, not trying find the next place to live and go.
“It is very important to focus on this.” [planet]Instead of giving up, the royal suggested that he would rather go into space to think of solutions for the future. He also stated that he has ‘absolutely zero interest’ in going into space and questioning the carbon costs of space flights.
In response: Shatner reacted to Prince William’s criticisms of the billionaire space race in an interview with Entertainment Tonight
Prince William was not a fan: During an interview with Adam Fleming, BBC Newscast, at Kensington Palace, Prince William criticised the race for humanity to leave Earth.
After hearing the criticisms of the Duke, Shatner said to Entertainment Tonight that he was defending his trip into outer space. He will be king of England some day.
“He’s a gentle, intelligent, and lovely man, but he has the wrong idea.”
He elaborated, “The idea is not to go. I’m in Space. It was the landing that took all that energy and people to look at it. Shatner stated, “No,”
“I would tell him, and I hope he gets the message. This is a baby move into the idea to get industry up there, so all those polluting businesses, especially the ones that make electricity… off Earth.
